Very good restaurant for a good événement! The restaurant was pretty busy so I recommend to reserve in advance. The service was very good. And the food very good. The meat is cook perfectly!

My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary, and we had an amazing time. Everything was flavored deliciously and cooked to perfection, the service was helpful and super quick, and the atmosphere was very cozy. We got the escargot to try, and I was skeptical at first - but it was so tender, juicy, and cooked in a wonderful gravy. Honestly, everything was so good. Le Refuge is a very nice, fancy restaurant, so the prices are a bit higher - but the food is well worth the extra expense

Cozy, charming, and elegant. The food was excellent and attractively plated. Be prepared to dish out some cash though because this place is not cheap. People tend to go there for special occasions.

I'm French. The first time I stepped in, the memory of my grandmother's kitchen smell immediately popped up in my mind, a memory that I had actually forgotten, and I am not exaggerating. The food served at Le Refuge is as french as it gets. It is literally the opposite of BS places like "Mon ami Gaby"; a real chef cooks real french food and the owner will advise you on the proper wine that goes with it. One of my favorite place in Alexandria, worth every penny.

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. The people working here are lovely and attentive. Unfortunately, the the appetizer and main course were horrible. After I was seated, I asked if they had Merlot. The waiter said yes, and she turned and walked away, bringing me a “glass of Merlot.” I should have asked if they had a variety of wines by the glass, but I was never given the option. I ordered an appetizer - asparagus with some sort of cream sauce dressing. The asparagus arrived. They were barely surviving. I could see only the tips because the rest were in a pool of cream sauce. The plate had cubed tomatoes on the side, with cubed bread, and a few assorted lettuce leaves for color? I took a few bites, but could not finish the offering. For the main course I chose one of the daily specials. Sliced duck with a raspberry sauce. The sauce was wonderful, the duck was not. The duck was under cooked and very gristly. Served with the duck was a dollop of delicious scalloped potatoes, and puréed carrots (I think they were carrots), and sautéed onions. There are several reasons I gave this restaurant three stars. The first reason is that I took a chance and ordered dessert. OMG! Strawberries, homemade (at least it tasted homemade) vanilla ice cream, covered in rich sauce, finished with heavy whipped cream on top - unbelievably delicious. I wish I had ordered three desserts instead of dinner. The second reason for the three star rating is because the owners of this restaurant are very attentive, and it is probably my fault for not telling them how disappointing the meal was. The last reason for the three star rating is because this restaurant has a terrific ambiance!
