An absolute delight. It's an old train station converted into a restaurant and the atmosphere is splendid. Sort of a pub feel, but the menu is anything but. The wine selection is phenomenal, the beers are great, and the food is fantastic. No wrong choices here. In the mood for good German food, this is the ONLY place in Fredericksburg to consider.

Went here for a friend's birthday. I was skeptical at first but I was proven wrong. I had one of the better steaks I've ever had. The sides and desserts were amazing. Situated in a very cool old train station building, with the fire place going and trains passing by, this place has great atmosphere. Not super expensive but not cheap, but the Bavarian Chef is a great place to go for a special occasion. We will be back!

No comparison to other downtown restaurants! This place has them beat in originality and portion size. Dinner sides are served "family style" which means you basically eat until you are full, complimentary. Lunch visit I was not charged extra for toppings on my burger. So tired of other places nickel and diming me over every little extra. Service is above and beyond. If you are not happy, tell them, they will fix it. I'm a loyal patron.

The chef is amazing and the staff are very friendly. Great atmosphere. Great German beer on tap- and they will fill a growler for you!

Personally, I think I ordered the wrong thing. It turned out to be very thinly sliced beef DROWNING in some sort of ketchup sauce. I took maybe 2 bites and stopped eating. The whole time I lived in Germany, I never saw anything like it. It was our anniversary and I wanted to have a pleasant evening with my husband, so I didn't send it back. I am known for being the lady in our family who will send the meal back! Instead, I ate the salad & spatzel, brought the meat home & washed the ketchup off for my husband to eat it! He put mustard on it and made a sandwich.
