Reopening less than grand... My wife and I have breakfast at the Barking Frog almost every weekend. The restaurant closed for a month to renovate and expand the kitchen. Unfortunately, upon reopening the buckwheat pancakes were removed from the menu, offering no wheat-free substitutes in pancakes. The ice tea was weak and the service was turtle slow! We waited almost 1/2 hour for our food with no apology or explanation. The prices are high compared to similar restaurants, but we used to sacrifice a little extra money for the atmosphere, food quality and service. Not anymore. In the future, we will be going to Commons or Purple. What a major disappointment.

Our favorite place for weekend brunch. Excellent food, we have never had anything that did not largely impress us. Even simple items such as the pancakes, oatmeal, and burgers are fantastic. The huevos rancheros are my personal favorite. The ambience is very pleasant, and relaxing, despite how busy the restaurant tends to be. Definitely make reservations, or you will be waiting for a while.

As one might suspect, being the place is associated with Willow's Lodge and next to Herb Farm, it is not inexpensive but not prohibitively so. It is, however, quite delicious with excellent service and great atmosphere. The biscuits & gravy were very good, as were the beignets. My counterpart had the bagel and lox and said it was delicious. The parking situation is pretty good and I believe there's still some overflow at the old Redhook brewery for now if the main lot is full.

We started with the bread basket and seasonal salted whipped butter, which is even better than desert. Next up, salmon tartare that melted in our mouths accompanied by a beet salad that was literally fresh from the garden. For our entrees we both indulged in butter poached halibut, mixed mushrooms, and yukon gold mashed potatoes. To. Die. For. We sat outside bc we love it on the back patio. It was a little chilly so the staff offered us the best “fuzzy” blankets ever. The service is beyond 5 stars. Thank you Barking Frog, for everything.
