Mother's day ambience killer. Why charge for water if it's not bottled? Didn't even give the option to opt out, water was already on the table. ?! I understand they have every right to charge for this, but really?! On a positive note, my uncle says it was the best eggs Benedict he's ever had.

While the ambiance is definitely there, the food is lacking. My wife had a salad with no taste and did not enjoy the cod. My steak was ok but on the tough side - though I did enjoy the potato soup starter. The value for money is low - a steak from Wellingtons is much much better yet is the same price. Even the cattle baron has excellent steaks for half the price. Go for the ambiance but not the food.

Beautiful venue and location. I was here for a wedding and the service and food was top notch. I highly recommend it and now I'm interested in coming back to check out the brunch/lunch/dinner offerings.

We managed to get a last minute reservation for Sunday brunch. All four of us ordered the smoked salmon dish and it was delicious! The hostess and our server were excellent, with warm smiles. We sat at the corner window with the lake behind us and although it was still frozen over, it was lovely!

Considering the price tag, I will rate there as very good but not excellent. Here is why: Entrance: (***) I received much better reception at restaurants like Joey Barlow. The reception seemed to be overwhelmed by the number of guests. She asked us to sit at the bar which was already full. We were kind of hanging there. Ambiance: (****) Well you have the lake view which you do not always get here in Calgary. The hall is well decorated. Oh! the bar! It could be designed MUCH better! whats with the old rusty mirrors guys. Service: (*****) The service was great! I mean it... Food: (****) I got the rib eye steak and I liked it. My wife got the strip loin steak. It was average. Dry & not tender. She liked the sides though. The desert was good. I liked it but my wife didn't. All in all, the food was tasty to my standards. Departure: (****) Better than most of the restaurants but again the reception was slow to attend.
