Overall: 4/5 Location/ parking: 3 (Festival of Lights) Ambiance: 4 Variety: 4 Food: 4 Service: 5 Most memorable part was the service. The waitress was calm, polite, and attentive despite having quite a few tables to deal with. Also took good pictures for us. Food was not memorable, your routine stuff, but passable. It was packed, but still felt like there was enough room. Overall, not a bad holiday experience. Parking was a different story.

Friendly staff, lovely garden, but little else. Waited an hour and a half for bland, over cooked food. Ludicrous pricing. Rarely been more disappointed in a restaurant in my life. Stay away.

I give 1 star ONLY because of the setting. Brunch here is delightful because of the garden. The food is mediocre, the service a bit slow at times, but it is the really bad attitude of the management that makes us not go back. I still recommend this place for anyone visiting the gardens, but otherwise, you can get the type of food that Shaughnessy serves most anywhere. If it weren't for the garden, this place would never have remained open. However, Van Dusen does allow you to bring food in, so you might be able to experience Shaughnessy's 4 star setting without ever setting foot in the rotting old restaurant.

Fast service, decent but not remarkable food, not a varied menu but we enjoyed what we had. Odd square table with 4 fold outs to make it round was uneven, so my plate rocked throughout the meal. Chowder was more potatoes than seafood, stroganoff more noodles than sauce, lamb and calamari were good and desserts were good but again not exceptionally notable. Service staff were very attentive and courteous. Paying more for the location than the food itself I think.

The steak was amazing, accompanied by great sides and the service was excellent! Come check this place out!
