My sister, cousin, and I had a wonderful experience last night at Kona Grill. Our server was so sweet and helpful, as he explained the menu to us and always came to check if we needed anything else. After we paid the bill, he told us that there was no rush, and that we could stay and chat. He even continued to check on us to see if we wanted water or anything else! It's so nice when you don't feel like they are rushing you out of the restaurant. The restaurant is spacious and clean, and the food was really good and nice portions! Will definitely be heading back, and telling my friends to go as well.

I saw this place on the way to meeting a friend next door, as it looked familiar. Sure enough, it was a spot that I'd been to back home in California! So we opted to meet here for drinks. The ambience is perfect - very California style with lounge music & open doors on the patio. It was quiet as the locals chose the place next door, but that was just fine for me. I ordered the hibiscus Cosmo & the coconut shrimp sushi roll. They were mediocre. I've noticed that the food & drinks here in Toronto are no match in terms of presentation, taste & size to what we get in the US. They could use alot more work especially if it's the same chain - should they not all be the same??!! But I'd rather frequent this joint, as opposed to the local spots that everyone else frequents, as this place has a fusion of foods & is vegetarian/vegan friendly.

Very expensive for what it was: poor service and mediocre food at best. Made a reservation for a birthday celebration and nothing done, not even mentioned. Asked for 'nice table' and despite it being empty they plopped us in the middle. Took 1/2 hour to get our bottle of wine; 1st thing ordered and served with meal. Entre came before apps and last of food to arrive was kids meals. Then I had to get up to get my own plate. Totally backwards, no apologies... apps were obviously cold. Then came the kids drinks. Plenty of better places to go. Best description would be it is like a large high end cafeteria.

Thought this new restaurant in our neighborhood would be a nice treat for 30th wedding anniversary. Went to look at the nice interior and menu before booking reservations near window. There was no table reserved when we arrived. Not busy at all so we picked any table. The service was good. We don't mind paying, we just want to eat. The food was not enough in quantity nor quality to justify those prices. We expressed concerns to our waiter, he just shrugged his shoulders. Did not offer to bring manager over. We were very disappointed. No one was at front desk when we left restaurant, they were avoiding us. Never recommend Kona to anyone. Much better places to eat. Oh, did I mention that my family was still hungry after paying crazy $ 's bill. We all went out for pizza.

We went to check this place out for lunch on a Friday. It seemed a bit pricey but it’s a convenient location for us so we were really hoping to like it. We are vegetarians...they have some options but not many filling ones. The avocado egg rolls tasted good and the sauce that came with them was great, however I’m not sure I would pay 13 bucks for two rolls split in two. I got a side oriental salad and my husband got the vegetarian roll. The salad was actually really nice. The veg roll was 8 dollars for five pieces...definitely not worth it. I was contemplating giving three stars...since the service was nice and the food was decent though overpriced. We probably wouldn’t have come again just because we had no options we could enjoy. What takes this down to two stars is that they charged us 8 dollars for two waters. When we asked the waitress she said their water is filtered so they charge for it...they aren’t supposed to give the option of tap water, though if the customer asks they will give it. The water isn’t on the menu...if we knew we were going to be charged for it, we would have gotten an actual drink like tea. It always irks me when restaurants try to pull a fast one with things like water. Just left us with a bad taste. Our server was nice though and seemed to feel the same way about the water but she had no choice. Overall Really disappointed with the pricing and options at this place.
