Great place to dine in, horrible for take out. I have visited here many times and the last time I came, may have turned me off for good. I ordered take out last Friday night and was told it would be 35 minutes before my food was ready - that is completely understandable on a Friday night. What I am very disappointed about is that my food had to have been ready at least 20 minutes before because by the time I received it (I arrived with 5 minutes to spare to ensure they wouldn't be cold and soggy) my food was cold. I normally never complain but from what I've heard, this restaurant is not one you order take out from. I wish I had have left my order there and didn't waste $30 on a cold meal

My husband and I had dinner here tonight and it was fabulous! Everything was perfect! Although it was crowded, we were able to enjoy our conversation without noisy distraction or having to yell. Our server, Sarah, was delightful. The food was absolutely delicious. Well made, perfectly portioned and way better than I was expecting. I can't wait to go back to try something different! Everything on the menu looked great. I had the French Dip - quite possibly the best steak sandwich ever. So tender it was incredible. My husband had the Main State (10oz steak) medium rare, and he said it was better than Prime Rib. We both really enjoyed ourselves, and will definitely return.

We came in for Mother's Day and we had one of our best experiences at this location. We used to dine in but realized a decline in service, likely due to understaffing and we were unsure to return. With last minute Mother's Day plans and not being able to find a reservation anywhere else suitable, we tried State and Main again. We were served by a friendly and bubbly server Shawna. Even if she was incredibly busy she made great recommendations for wine, food and even wine pairings. She made our night very enjoyable without us feeling rushed. The food came out hot and fresh as well. We will be returning.

I didn't expect much from this place when I first went for a work function, assuming it would just be typical pub food. I was pleasantly surprised! They had SO many vegetarian/vegan options. Most places will not replace the meat portion with anything but they give you the option of soy chicken. Impressed. Will definitely go back.

Very nice, kind, and helpful server! We must have picked some of the poorer items on the menu. We literally didn't enjoy anything we ate or drank when we were there except the couscous. However- the next day - the Pacific Rim Bowl we had dramatically improved after we ate the leftovers. The salmon burger was a disappointment - too thick chunks of avocado - not much overall flavour to the sandwich, just bitterness. Nice bun though! The lemonade had absolutely no sweetness to it. The French Onion soup tasted burnt. According to the server, their beef burger is their most popular item under sandwiches, their fish tacos under a different category, and the Pacific Rim Bowl under another. *See my pics for more info and food shots.
