A family favourite - the Black Dog Bistro never fails to disappoint. The portions are perfect and the atmosphere and decor are the cherry on top. The Lamb special was easy to cut into and just the right amount of gamy. We ordered the Crispy Chicken Burger for the first time and were pleasantly shocked at how massive it was! If you're looking to split a meal with your loved one or friend, look no further than this dish. Looking forward to next time.

Cocktails were tasty with an inventive selection. Our entree of baked brie was tasty but not warm enough that the cheese oozed out. Mains I had salmon with rice. The rice tasted too much of lemon (which it must have been cooked with) I could not eat it. My husband sweet potato fries were placed under his short ribs with gravy making them mushy. The waitress comped our desserts to make up for it and they were great. All in all not our favorite trip there. Probably just an off night as this is the first time we had any complaints and they made it right. Would go again.

My husband and I went there last night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was awesome. Black Dog made it an especial night for us. Nice staff, variety of food and drinks on the menu, delicious food and dessert. we will be back very soon. will recommend it to all my friends. Thank you Black Dog!

Plenty of variety on the menu. Everyone we've taken here has reported to us that they enjoyed it. (We're from the States originally and we've taken nearly everyone that comes to visit us to Black Dog for a meal). My mom described it as "very posh" and I think she felt a little uncomfortable with her casual dress (compared to several of the other patrons) when we went for lunch. On my first visit, it felt very much like a pub where the locals assembled to grab a pint at lunch before returning to their duties. I feel like it can be both of these which I think is part of its appeal. This place is always busy, reservations on the weekends are a strong recommendation, even for lunch. I was a little disappointed by the quality of the steak my children were served at our last visit. It was exceptionally tough and gristly, which is a shame because my children beg for us to take them places where they like the steak. There are plenty of chain restaurants in the area that have repeatedly done better on this front.

The Black Dog in Manotick is a very nice place. The interior is old style post and beam. The service is friendly and professional the food is good. Last night (Valentine's) they had some great wine pairings with their specials. Whomever chose those did a great job. Oh, and they make a great Grey Goose martini too!
