Soup tasted bad and had not much in it. Could really taste the cream in it (not in a good way). Main dish of ox tongue with tomato sauce and rice was actually decent. Portions smaller than expected but that is to be expected for the price. Milk tea was the worst though. Like the tea was burnt or something.

Yesterday (Friday 12:15pm), I was here for the curry beef brisket with spaghetti with cream soup + HK milk tea for $7.95 + tax + tip. Food is moderately acceptable. Nothing much expected for $7.95 for the combo these days. Most places charge at least $10. The place is run down. It stinks a bit. The chef was the waiter & cashier. My coworker & me were the only patrons from 12:15pm till 1:10pm. Surprisingly empty for Friday office lunch time in decent weather (+8 degC, wet but stopped raining). Won't be going again. Chef was rude to my coworker who asked for a set of chopsticks as we were given metal fork & spoon upfront. 3 stars for moderate food but good price.

Really wanted to like this place because it was something else in the plaza I never tried. The prices are attractive, but the food isn't. It was super quiet, run down, dark, and old for 1pm in the day. The one guy - owner probably, was also the server and the chef. He, like the restaurant, looks sketch and not super friendly, but I don't have any complaints about him or the service otherwise. There was one other person eating when I went in. The food is where the bad review comes in- I didnt see the other posts to try number 58 or whatever beforehand. But I ordered something very basic and it was very sub par. There are many places around with similar price with much better quality. To start: the soup was just decent, just mushroom and cream. Super basic, just salty and with no other notable ingredients at all. Canned versions taste better. The Portuguese chicken rice was very below average. The chicken was decently cooked, but overall the whole dish was not appetizing. The sauce was not very tasteful, just salty and again very basic. Everything I felt like could have been made by a child. It was child-like portions as well, which reflects in the price. I was kind of glad because it wasn't good and would have been more rice more than anything, which didnt even seem fresh. The biggest caveat is the hot lemon tea I ordered. The most simple thing possible at a hk restaurant. I don't ever waste food or drink, not matter how bad it is, I try to make the effort. But the drink I could not stand. I don't understand how they could serve tea that tasted like garbage water. This was the first O-Tea I have ever not finished due to taste. I tried to wrestle with giving the benefit of the doubt, but I was the only customer. Their tea is just horrible on a daily basis. Too bad because I thought their menu looked good when I first sat down. After this, i won't be back to try anything else. Tldr; In short, bad food. Cheap prices, but not worth it. I will not return. Even if bfast is good, I'd trust cakeview next door more
