Definitely some of the best sushi I've had in Toronto. The fish seems very fresh and all of the dishes are very well balanced. The price is fairly reasonable as well. No alcohol is served (maybe coming in the future?) The space itself is very minimal and aesthetically pleasing. It was very busy when we came. Would definitely recommend making a reservation and be prepared for a slower, more leisurely meal.

A minimalist setting with clean, fresh architectural lines. It only recently opened, and when you walk in you can still smell the new wood, but it quickly recedes into the background. The service (read server) was demure, attentive and efficient. The food was definitely above average, and the ingredients were very fresh. For other parents, my preteen really enjoyed it, and we'll definitely go back to explore more items on the menu.

I came here with a few friends on a Wednesday night. It is a cute small cozy place. The food was not bad. The price was fair for the quality that you get. However, I rate this restaurants 3 stars only because of the poorly run operation. We waited nearly 40 minutes for our food even when the restaurant was not very busy. We had a brand new server who didn't seem well trained. Our orders got all mixed up, more than once. In fact, the chef had given me the the wrong item 3 times in one night. Our server was very apologetic with all the mishaps, but I expect more from a restaurant. Although food was good, I would not come back due to the headaches.

I just love love love Shunoko! I was a frequent customer when they were Sushi Nomi on Roncesvalles and was so sad to see they were moving further away from the 5 minutes it used to take me (I used to go at least once a week...) That being said, I'm so happy for them as a bigger space is definitely a smart move - now more people can partake in their mastery! They take such care with the food they put out, the rice is top quality, the home made soy sauce, the freshness of all the ingredients. After eating here, any time you go to any of the other dime a dozen sushi places you'll 100% notice the difference and wish you hadn't wasted your money. They simply don't measure up. Not in the least! Eventhough now it takes me longer to get to, they are still my #1 spot. And the staff is awesome, I'm a creature of habit and typically get the same thing, on a recent visit, my first after they moved, I deviated from my usual and they came back and double checked, wanting to confirm that they hadn't misheard. Amazing! :-). Anyway, best spot ever, you won't regret it and may damn them as now any time you go elsewhere you'll leave sad, wishing you were at Shunoko...
