WORST SERVICE EVER - WE WERE THREATENED BY YOUR SERVER MICHAEL. I am so sad to rate this restaurant poorly - but I had such an awful experience with the new waiter named Michael I felt compelled to do so. Michael is somewhat new and I really had no issue with him prior. I arrived back from Dominican Republic and was excited to come to this restaurant because the food is excellent. Michael greeted us and asked us to sit anywhere. He brought us glasses of water with no ice and only half full. We ordered appetizers to which we received no side plates. He brought us a single dish to our table of four. We sat waiting for our other dishes to arrive - 10 minutes later he came to the table to ask how everything tasted. We awkwardly answered: "Fine..." he looked confused and asked whether we had been served our meal. We politely answered that we had been served one. Michael hurried back to the kitchen and another 10 minutes went by before he arrived with our dishes. I had ordered a large but he brought us all a small. We made mention of this fact to him and he said he was going to the kitchen to check. He emerged from the kitchen and blamed our table saying I did not request a large. He read through our order one at a time and realized I had IN FACT ordered a large. Michael responded by blaming the kitchen and said: "Well I wrote it down as you can see." I thought it was no issue and suggested he could bring out another small order to make up the difference. Michael responded by saying he was not going to bring out anymore food for me but not to worry because he would do us a favour by only charging us for the small. It was very off-putting and I commented that I wouldn't expect to be charged for a large when receiving a small. I commented this was not favour. Michael then said that he couldn't just get the kitchen to make me more of the dish I ordered and said I could order something else if I was still hungry. I responded: "No thanks." I ate some of my spouses left overs to which Michael felt we must be satisfied. Michael was not the least bit apologetic and in fact came off rude and condescending throughout the entire experience - none of which we were to blame and we were only polite. It came time to pay and I went to square the bill. I felt very obviously his service did not warrant a tip and told him as such while paying. He acknowledged his poor service but did not apologize. Following paying Michael came to the table and forcefully cleaned off the table - even taking a full wine glass from us as though to kick us out. Michael turned to me and asked if I tipped while I was in Dominican Republic and I said "Yes I tipped generously." Michael responded by saying: "Well were you unhappy with my service tonight and that is why you left me a poor tip?" I responded very bluntly: "Yes." The finale of all this Michael turned to me and said: "Well if you were unhappy with the service this time - wait to see what your service will be like next time." This is inexcusable behaviour and I strongly recommend you dismiss Michael.

Great spot for lunch! Well priced lunch specials. Could do Vietnamese coffee better.

I have been to this excellent Vietnamese restaurant with family and friends on more than 15 occasions in the last few years. Service has always been very good and the ambiance relaxed. Food is very good, fresh and without any pretentiousness. I remember the first time I went I didn't like the location and so-so decor, but don't be fooled... The menu, especially choices in the Table d'Hôte (e.g grilled shrimp and beef filet), will undoubtedly exceed your expectations for an unbeatable price. If you want to discover a honest, tasty and very affordable Asian restaurant in Hull, you cannot go wrong with this one.

Picked because of other reviews. We were staying in the area and though we would like Vietnamese. Not a mistake. Great food and service. We rarely order prix -fix unless a tasting at fine dining. The set menu looked fine and gave a try. Great choice!

UPDATE: I just sent my friend here to try it and a bug crawled out of her food! How horribly embarrassing for me!
