This was one of the worst meals and service we have had in a long time. From it taking 20 minutes to get our drinks, to our server only being able to say " I do not know" and the menu being out of 40% of what was on it. We got up and left. Appetizer order came partially and there was an "oh there is more" - 20 minutes more for a salad. The waiter said they had had a large party on Monday night and were out of a lot, but only as we ordered each thing - "oh we are out of that". There was a private party that was out on the porch - not too big and three wait staff, the dining room I think had one - ours and it was not going well. Then another large party came in and I am pretty sure they had pre ordered or requested food as they were talking about the many things that they were having and it was much of what they were "out of". This was the worst of the worst. It is expensive, the staff rude and lacking in knowledge and it is by no means true Lithuanian food - really pasta with a meal and a borscht that resembled a weak at best minestrone. Never will go back here.

Nicely done interior design, I love the wall with the wood slices. The menu is very Russian/Eastern European based. They said they tried to Americanize it but I'm not sure how. The Salmon was my favorite of the night along with the bartenders special chocolate shot. I would have rather gone to California Pizza Kitchen next door.

Wonderfully displayed food, marvelous tastes, beautiful decor. The guitar music was so very nice. We loved our meal and will be back as it was hard to choose so we need to try more. Thank you for a special place e to go. Hope you get 3 stars soon. The sevice was fantastic. We are foodies and collect good restaurants so believe us.

Second time in. Would give the first visit a 4, hence the return. This visit was not great. But I will probably give it a 3rd time try--why not? Menu is large but lacks focus. As does the decor...a really odd mix of styles and it pretty much still looks like the old bar it used to be. Traditional dishes are the best bet. Of a total of 4 lamb kabobs, 3 were good, 1 was way under cooked. Service was super slow, from getting cocktails to the table to bringing the check. Several other large tables were served entrees prior to our table of 6, despite being sat later. Modern plating on a large flat black piece of slate is simply ridiculous--juices of the chicken dish slid all over one diner's lap when the plate was set down by the server. During both visits the place has a faint sewer or dirty dishwater smell. Outdoor patio is large and comfortable. Servers on both occasions were friendly, and hard but could use some additional training on the menu and the wines. I really want to like this European alternative to modern American food and tacos but I don't yet.

Sonata's cuisine is excellent and menu selections reflect significant thought as to the dishes that make the cut. (Lamb shank sensational) Ambiance is versatile. On my first visit, flamenco guitarist was entertaining, yet we needed a quiet spot to talk...host led us to patio where a secluded table allowed us to quietly converse. On a follow up celebration our group of 10 was perfectly placed in center of house...where indoor meets out door...ideal. Staff, from front to back-of-the-house (including ownership), understand elements of a and memorable dining experience. Naim, our server, added simple touches to make the three birthday celebrants feel special...thank you Naim. We will return frequently as Sonata's provides casual/elegant surroundings with high quality food and service. Happy hour can't be beat.
