We visit every time we come out for Spring Training for their great breakfast with accent on Mexican. Camouflaged by hanging plants and set in a small strip-mall, this place is worth finding. Interesting menu with daily specials, friendly, knowledgeable staff, cozy setting. We always sit at the communal table and invariably start talking with others who are sitting there. Portions are huge, so we always have leftovers for the next morning's breakfast.

Dick's Hideaway is literally hidden away, with no signage whatsoever to mark it. Enter and you're immediately in a quirky and inviting space, with excellent food, a full bar, and a more than decent wine selection. My only minor complaint with my meal is that I didn't end up with my preferred vegetable and my steak leaned more to medium than my preferred rare. It was all still very excellent, and I certainly recommend you give this place a try. Decently easy to find parking around back. Expect steakhouse prices.

Unfortunately, myself and my date were not impressed by the food or the atmosphere of Dick’s Hideaway. We were greatly looking forward to some amazing New Mexican style food and a fun place to hang. We didn’t get either. The location is a small dive bar spot which is fine. We were seated at an adjoining “wine room” which had two community tables and one booth. Community tables can be fun if your table mates are all on the same page. We felt bad for one table that had three groups sharing one table. Yet, that is not the reason for my two stars. The food isn’t that good. Phoenix is a place with AMAZING styles of Mexican cuisine - and this food was boring, hot spicy and not flavorful, and they didn’t do the little things right. If this was a resort restaurant not located in Arizona, then I could see why people enjoy this food. Instead, it is place that leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth.

Enjoyed sitting at the community table. However, the service was incredibly slow. The food was edible, but that's about the best I can say about it. Overcooked shrimp. Dry chicken. Sauces were a bit bland. Judging from the other reviews, I was expecting quite a bit more.

This operation is a little hard to find but very seriously worth it. I was in Phoenix for training and one of my goals was finding authentic Mexican food. Mission accomplished!! The pork burrito that I had was heavenly and smoked with pinion wood that added a smoky demension. It came with a red sauce that was made in heaven. I only wish Colorado could come close but not yet. Thank you Phoenix!!
