I've probably eaten here 20 times now. The food is consistently excellent and is far better than the low price would suggest. In my pre-vegan days, I loved the crispy spring rolls, the pork chops, the Chinese sausage, and the salad rolls. If you like good Vietnamese food, you have to try this place. I am also a great fan of the little old man who is usually our waiter. I think he is Cambodian, and he doesn't speak English well. I asked the owner about him and found out he has had a really rough life. He always asks about my father who has passed away and tried to advise me on how to best order my food, but communication is difficult. He really tries hard though. I can't imagine what it must be like to live in his shoes. I only mention this because some people have mentioned rude service. I suspect it's more of a communication issue than anything.

Huge bowls of delicious soup with plenty of fresh vegetables and garnishes. Pleasant wait staff. Bonus: shares a connecting door to Lee Lee's International Market.

The food is incredible, and from what I hear from my Vietnamese friends, very authentic. According to my friends, the service is also very authentic. A lot of disgruntled commenters are complsinico about the service and they're not necessarily wrong (just a little too sensitive). There is a huge cultural difference at play here. If you're offended by how other cultures interact, this isn't the right restaurant for you. I do think it's a tad ridiculous to give a one star review if you think the food is amazing, but you're upset about the service. Seems like amazing food is worthy of 2-3 stars and people who don't let small negative interactions ruin their whole week might want to know if the food is good. I personally do not want vindictive people to attempt to drive this place out of business, despite the fact that I've been insulted by the older gentleman myself. Oh also, the interior is nothing fancy which Americans seem to associate with dirty. The restaurant is reasonably clean, it's just not what we are used to. Bottom line, eating here is an experience that's well worth it. And there's no guarantee that you'll get bad service so it's not worth avoiding based on the reviews of a few sensitive people.
