I have been here many times over the years....the views, decor and history speak for themselves - all are stellar just for the record. But this is the first time I have been since the owners changed, and I had some trepidation about what might have been compromised in the transition. I was very happy to see that nothing had. And, in fact, there were even some improvements. Most notably the menu, which is so much better in my opinion. Everything we had was delicious, but the dish that demands mentioning (particularly, because it might not be what you would tend to order at a Japanese restaurant!) were the fall-off-the-bone ribs. Oh. My. God. YES!! THAT good!! But the true reason I am taking the time to write this is because we were treated to the best possible service imaginable. We sat at the bar and were served (actually, make that, spoiled rotten) by Teri. She went above and beyond. Whether it was making the best possible suggestions on what to order, having warm lemon water finger bowls waiting for when we finished the lip-smacking ribs (that she had described perfectly!), wrapping up a bottle that we had admired and handing it to us in a to-go bag, or upon overhearing that I had just celebrated a birthday the night before - delivered a dessert, 'compliments of the house'! She basically anticipated our every need and desire and all with a sweet and affable demeanor, never overwhelming or intrusive. She was also training an equally lovely bartender, Meagan - who is well on her way to be as great as Teri. This was truly the most exceptional service I can ever imagine receiving, and THAT, alone, will keep us coming back......granted, those ribs will be something that we dream about....but Teri was SPECTACULAR! Do yourself a favor and go, just to be treated like royalty!

The food here was AMAZING! And the scenery was just beautiful, especially with the restaurant being on a hill. The movies also were quite interesting to watch, even if there wasn't any dialog. The food also did not take a long time to get, or the check to pay. I recommend this restaurant as a place you should DEFINITELY visit!

Amazing views of the city with a nice feeling of privacy up in the hills(Valet parking only). This restaurant is one of my favorite places to go in LA. You have breath taking views from your seat as you dine in or out front by the bar. There are beautiful gardens here along with coy fish ponds. The food here is great from the juicy chicken to the fresh cooked vegetables. Definitely an upscale romantic place to have dinner. Also nice to know that this place has been here for over 100 years.

Beautiful place but it took a LONG time for someone to come take our order. Once that was made known to the manager, he really stepped up and we got excellent service after that. The food was freaking amazing so I'll give 5 stars despite the service in case it was just an off day. It happens.

The view is amazing. The food is wonderful. Each room has a different aptmosphere that was equally breathtaking as the last. We we're 5 people and ordered a "big boat" of sushi that was excellent. This place is good for a nice dinner date or a large group. They have a garden that is beautiful. This place includes valet parking.
