We were staying in San Diego and asked far and wide for recommendations in La Jolla and this place kept coming up. George's at the Cove has wonderful views. Overall, though, it's overrated. Four of us went. I enjoyed my food immensely, but the other 3 were not wowed at all. If you go, just know the food is just OK, the service is just OK too, you'll pay a lot, but you'll have a great view. It is what it is.

A great laid back place to go get drinks and dinner with fantastic views of the coast. The hostess was not exactly welcoming, but once we got past her the service was great. The drinks were well made and not too expensive. We only got appetizers when there, but they were also fairly good. Would suggest this as a start point for a night out.

It's a San Diego Institution for a reason... the setting is upscale but very approachable. Its in the middle of the place you want to be with the best view the cove. The place is set up with three distinct dining/drinking options... there's a Terrace on top with a full but more casual menu and great bar... another casual restaurant/bar that's great for happy hour and pre-dinner drinks in the middle, and then the high end restaurant itself on the lower level. I can also say that I have been coming to this restaurant for 20 years and the food has never been better. Service and various tasting menus are always great also. Just keep in mind that there's literally no view after sunset, but the view is second to the spot itself. It's a great spot . You should Go.

My wife and I visited this restaurant several months ago. But if you are going during the prawn season, I highly recommend this as a starter. They were cooked perfectly. The best way to describe prawns are a sweeter taste, almost like lobster, but with the texture of shrimp. Then for our main courses we had the Rohan duck and braised beef cheeks. Both did not disappoint! I am not a huge fan of duck, but this dish was highly satisfying. However, one of the best features of the restaurant was the view from our seat, even with a building rooftop in the view we were very happy to spend the evening with dinner and a west coast sunset. Do not hesitate to try this restaurant because we will definitely be back on our next trip to San Diego!

Great upscale dining experience (California Modern) with a nice sunset view. Tasting menu offers a wide range of flavors and textures, light and nuanced. Definately worthy of special occasions and can't wait to come back when the menu changes.
