The service is good, the food is nothing special. Actually pretty disappointing. Basically the same story everytime I visit a Mel's diner: Go for the novelty of the 50's diner theme but don't expect old-school, homemade quality. This particular visit, I got the French toast breakfast with turkey sausage. The French toast had good texture but tasted pretty bland. The sausage was a small patty that seemed to have no added seasoning, just taken from the freezer and cooked. Not disgusting but it did not bring me joy. Nice energy and aesthetic, though.

If a thin gal by the name of Ana is your server, run. I understand if your busy attending to other customers but don't just serve the food and think your job is done. Swing by and ask your customers if there's anything else you could get them. Like a refill, napkins or a box to go. Oh and the meal was ok.

This is a diner... I had some great sliders the last time we were there. Actually my granddaughter ordered them, and she didn't care for them much but she's a finicky 10 year old!! I found them to be wonderful I think it was Gouda cheese and avocado it was yummy and I'm glad she ordered it. She just got my plain hamburger and that was fine with her

This is a good location and one of few places with their own lot in SF for parking. And it's got enough parking to accommodate. This is a large location and has tons of booths as well as large tables for groups. Their milkshakes are quite tasty and they have quite a big selection of diner options and American comfort food.

Was there for breakfast and ordered buttermilk pancakes. They tasted good but were tough to cut. The server brought out cold butter pads and approximately 2 oz. of cold syrup. When ask for more butter and syrup she brought more butter but forgot the cold syrup. By the time she came back around the pancakes we're stone cold. However Mel's Drive-In on Geary Blvd is most always good and of course I will return since it is so close to my house and I do recommend it.
