Upscale, fun place with great food. The clam chowder and kale salad with fried oysters were both outstanding. Nicely curated selection of wines, including an unusually large selection of sparkling wines (at least in comparison to the usual 1 or 2 sparkling options offered in most restaurants). Maybe that's because sparkling wine is the perfect accompaniment to raw oysters, which were also great! Wasn't a huge fan of the mussels; prefer a more typical preparation. But overall a very pleasant experience.

It has been a few years since the one time I visited here, but I wanted to leave a review because I still think of it. The year I visited Hog Island Oyster Co. was the year that within the span of a year I visited Mississippi, Boston, and San Francisco. Essentially I got to sample oysters from the Gulf, the Atlantic, and the Pacific within a few months. Best year ever! The oysters here were fresh and there were local and non-local varieties. You can go out of the city to find roadside stands with oysters, but this is a great way to sample them if you don't want to leave the city. It is definitely worth the wait if there is a line.

Omg! This place is so delicious! The best clam chowder soup I've ever had! We also ordered the fried oysters and the rustic seafood stew. Both were delicious as well! A seafood lover's must stop when in San Francisco. Good size for a decent price.

Best clam chowder the girlfriend and I have ever had. The grilled cheese was pleasantly surprising as well. The oysters are good too (albeit expensive). Will definitely come back the next time we're in town.

Great service with great food. Although I’m not a big fan of seafood, this place definitely convinced me that I should be. Got the grilled oysters, clam chowder, and the sliders. The food was so good that I only got one picture of all the things. Would recommend that you come early or make a reservation. Is a little on the pricier side.
