It's a nice place for a special occasion. It's quiet and secluded in the hills. I love how secluded it was and how it wasn't on a busy road. The food was good but I didn't feel that it was a true French cuisine. Service was very good as well.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! Quaint location, lovely decor and professional waitstaff reminiscent of earlier days. Excellent food and drink menus.

The new owner of La Foret has kept the food pretty much as it was, which is a good thing. We went to brunch and it was similar to the original with marinated mushrooms and artichoke hearts, giant prawn with cocktail sauce, cheese, fruit, bread and scones, plus the entree. I had linguine with scallops and prawns and S.O. had lobster ravioli. All good. Scallops perfectly cooked and the lobster ravioli was awesome. Grand Marnier souffle and chocolate torte for dessert. I'm glad we will be able to keep La Foret on our fine dining list.

The food at La Foret is truly excellent. They have 2 tasting menus that elegantly blend proteins with complimentary sauces. They expertly cook the scallops, lobster and beef. The food is easily 5 stars, however they really need to focus on service. Dinner ($410 for two including tip) was rushed. We were on our 3rd of 6 dishes within 30 minutes. This included the obligatory greeting and drink ordering. I felt the food was rocket fired from the kitchen. They scoop away silverware and don’t pay attention to replace it before they bring your next dish. We sat with the meat entree in front of us without knives for a few minutes until we tracked down a porter to bring them. Similarly, when wine was finished they brought dishes before the wine -ordered to compliment the dish. Same thing happened with the port and coffee with dessert. I watched my soufflé sink waiting for my port. Overall the food was delightful but the service doesn’t meet the price tag.
