Solid 4 Santa Cruz level stars. Nice atmosphere, hip and classy without being pretentious. Came with high expectations for the food as Bantam has been the buzz locally for a while now. Packed as always with no reservations taken, waitstaff was overwhelmed even before the rush hit. Tried the fried chicken, margherita pizza and pork belly & noodles soup. Chicken was visually striking but the flavors were pedestrian. Pizza was solid, but there are better wood fired pizzas in Santa Cruz. The soup was the most interesting and had the most flavor, pork belly is always rich, the broth was also strong without being oily, and the greens & roots were a nice compliment, the noodles were the odd man out, overcooked and too thick and short for that kind of dish and really pointed out how unbalanced the dish as a whole was. If you dipped your spoon in you’d get some broth with either a chunk of the pork belly, a single noodle, or a turnip; such were the size of the ingredients that you wouldn’t really experience the dish as a whole. Cramped bar had a skilled bartender making drinks at a good pace, but again there are better bars nearby;so I can’t see anyone coming just to drink, especially at these prices. Come relaxed and willing to wait as the staff can’t keep up and you’ll have a good meal.

I came here on the advice of a local who I had some business. The ambiance is a little hipster, but not offensive. Music in the background and lots of chatter. Mostly 30+ diners. Known for pizza and chicken, however the chicken is only Friday-Sunday and I was there on a Thursday so I went with one of the pizzas. Lots of great selections. I started with an old fashion with a spicy twist that was good to go along with my pizza. Services was excellent. Highly recommended.

Tasty, trendy cuisine in a lively atmosphere. This place can get loud when it's busy, and they're usually busy because of their great food. Beer drinkers get a small tap selection, but it's a full bar & plenty of wines to choose from. Great spot!

Best eats in town. I’ve ordered the fried chicken probably 12 times and never had it the same way... real creative. Mezcal cocktails will make you feel even better about your life and expensive dining habits.

Overall experience was good, staff could have been more friendly, they were busy but very accommodating to our needs. Food was good felt it was a little pricey.
