I am saddened that I can only give the original Roy's five stars... They probably deserve ten. Ignoring the fact that their location is not on the beach in Waikiki (which to me is possibly a plus), they are several notches in quality and service above that downtown location. We ate at both during our 10 day stay on Oahu and while they Waikiki location was quite lovely, the original Roy's in Hawaii Kai is simply astounding. Service is impeccable with just the right amount of attentiveness and friendliness. Every dish we tried was marvelous in presentation and creativity. My wife's only negative was that they unfortunately did not have any chicken dishes among their entrees on the night we dined there. And strangely, while we ordered whatever we wanted with no concern about the price, we spent considerably less at the original Roy's. Highly recommended.

If you st downstairs at sunset the ambiance is very special. Sunset maybe moon rise , fire lit torches. Nice music!!! Romantic lovely! Good service. It’s just like any other place. You need to know what you like. Find the right dish for your taste. Appetizers and salads can use some help If you like raw egg get the Caesar salad. Otherwise it will leave a fowl smell and taste. I for one do not like raw egg at the bottom of salad. It’s noted on menu as souve egg It ruined it for me and my date!! Anyway ambiance great! Service great! Entrees are you best bet.

The food was amazing and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. This is a must on your vacation. No matter what you choose I think you can not lose. The wait staff was so friendly and I enjoyed my full experience.

Delicious place to eat some Asian fusion with a local Hawaii twist. You can have a relaxing dinner outside with an ocean view or upstairs with the ocean. The food is great and you will be surprised with the flavors that come out.
