Excellent atmosphere, quiet and subdued. The food is delicious. I had Spinach cannelloni with a vodka sauce...creamy with just the right bite. Gnocchi that my friend tried was pretty tasty as well. Meat and cheese board worked well as a starter, but the polenta was much better. Our server was helpful with questions and also gave hints about the area around Ashmont for coffee, bars, etc. Overall, a great experience...would definitely recommend and will return again when visiting the area!

Tavolo is a really wonderful neighborhood restaurant. We'll prepared dishes in a friendly, comfortable, and calm atmosphere. Service can be a little slow but not a deal breaker.

A real gem. Great food, stellar service, fun cocktails. South End feel, right at Ashmont.

I waited the fourth attempt to give a proper review. Typically, I enjoy supporting my neighborhood restaurants and try to patronize them frequently. I’d been supporting Ashmont Grill since it first opened its doors and referring ppl since. Ta OLP is a Sister restaurant. The ambiance is quite different and less inviting then Ashmont and the food offerings—sparce. Yet, that is not enough to give it such low ratings. What earned Tavolo this rating is the bartender, Michaella . As I mentioned, this was my fourth attempt at Tavolo’s and each time Michaella refused to recognize my presence, let alone serve me if I sat in the extended section of the bar. Last night, I wanted a table to study and enjoy food and drinks in unison. There were no intimate tables available and the hostess suggested the bar section facing the street because—who wants to sit at the bar with books and study guides? I sat for 20 minutes and watched Michaella continuously serve those at the bar and never so much as eye contact with me. She plainly ignored me. I caught her, on several occasions, looking in my direction and pretending not to see me (once while she was boasting to a recent arrival that she’s also the head waitress at Ashmont Grill!—who hires this woman?). I then asked for a table (shaking my head in anger) and met Diana. She increased my experience at Tavolo’s by a 1,000% with her easy and caring personality. I left her a $36.00 tip because she deserved it and this is my absolute LAST time I’ll ever grace Tavolo’s with any parts of my rather large budget for restaurant visits. And, although I love Ashmont Grill—and have an appointment with a friend there today—by virtue of their affiliation to Tavolo’s, I don’t think I’ll continue to visit as frequently. It’s time to find another place to accept my patronage. 😡
