We flew into Charlotte and had heard amazing things about Baku from family living in the South Park area. Being lovers of Japanese food we decided we had to try it out. I'll start out by saying that the food was unbelievably fantastic. The hostess was lovely and we were seated at a high top because we didn't have reservations. Our service was wonderful, the bartender was cheerful and the atmosphere was fantastic until we witnessed one of the managers in action. A server had clearly approached him with a problem as she looked severely stressed and what we overheard was his response which was, "I've already showed you, you're on your own." Or something along those lines. The server looked extremely disheartened and appeared to almost be ready to cry. We attempted to offer some comforting words, to which she thanked us and rushed off with tears in her eyes. While everything else was exceptional, we were really disappointed with the interaction we witnessed. As a manager, it is your job to help your employees to succeed and the attitude and disrespectful way this manager spoke to this server really ruined the experience. Hopefully employees will be valued in the future as the service really was fantastic. 5 stars to the staff, 1 star to the manager.

Severely disappointed with Baku. Spent a night in Charlotte because my girlfriend had a really early flight the next day - we wanted to try some really good sushi and read that Baku was the place to get a taste of that. While the sushi itself was good (though definitely not worth the insane prices), our waitress is the reason for such a low rating. First off, she didn't know the menu well - which is ridiculous for a place so expensive. Secondly, she led us to believe something we ordered was going to be 9 pieces of sushi, while it was only 3. Thirdly, the moment she realized we weren't going to drop $200+ on our meal, she decided to just ignore us - and when she did talk to us, it was curt and rude. Overall, it's just not worth it. The food is good, but for the amount of money you're dropping, the service and food should be much better. Go somewhere else.

The best birthday dinner I’ve ever had! The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and suggested delicious sushi. The atmosphere was intimate and relaxing which made it easy to fully enjoy your night and food. Hands down one of the best high end sushi restaurants in Charlotte. Would highly recommend. Thank me later 😉

I love everything about Baku. Their decor and atmosphere are amazing. We celebrated our wedding anniversary there and everything was perfect. The food is amazing and the cocktails are unique. We got a complimentary dessert for our celebration. I can't wait to go back.

Really good sushi. The dishes here are creative and well-presented. I love how they don’t over salt things. Classy environment. I highly recommended, especially for a date night
