Just had my first experience at Southern Smoke, and it was a great one! The staff were very friendly and the owner even chatted with us for quite a while. The food was fresh and delicious (and VERY generous portions) Neither of my friends were able to finish their pulled pork (but were both happy to have leftovers.) I had the chicken and was only able to finish bc I skipped the bun. TRY THE MAC DADDY AND CHEESE. I LOVE mac and cheese. This is my favourite one of life. Please do yourself a favour. The fries are 'worth it'. Perfectly crispy and salty and cooked. They taste fresh cut. Will most definitely be back.

I have had a lot of BBQ, all over the place. I have to say i now know why this guy went out of business with "his" restaurant on Ottawa street, I use quotes as the previous owners did a great job, but when they sold it, down the toilet it went. The food was terrible, hardly had much available and the freshness was questionable. I met the owner "Redman" or method man or whatever he called himself. It was like talking to a cross between a ambulance chasing injury lawyer and a bad used car salesman. He was so full of it that I should of brought my boots. One of the staff members even told me about how he was shorting the pay but he needed to keep working until he found something else. The service was odd, the food was poor and I do not recommend them for there catering or truck to anyone. You can get better BBQ from the frozen food aisle

Edit: This place used to be great but then it sold and the new owners drove it into the ground. The food quality has gone way downhill, the food is often cold and dry, they get orders wrong, and the atmosphere is icy in there now. We used to go regularly but now we haven't been in several months. Original review: Delicious food. Excellent service. Friendly staff. What more could you ask for?

This was our second time here. Yum. We sampled the "burnt ends" -- brisket -- and chicken sandwich. The restaurant has a nice selection of local and craft beer. You order at the counter and the food is brought to the table. The staff is great. Accessible washrooms. Street parking but there's a public parking lot a block away.

Was better when the original owners ran it.
