Only ever go for lunch buffet. The soup is great and the buffet is very good. My only issue is the lack of diversity in the food options. Owner is very nice.

This restaurant has been part of the Bytown experience for many years. It is a pricey for the quality of the food and the interior is rundown but the service is good. Just what you need before an evening at the movies.

Excellent food and good service in a pleasant atmosphere.

Very well kept and nicely laid out restaurant. Broken down into nooks that accommodates groups and single table dining while keeping the noise level down. Service was very polite and attentive and paced how I like... I hate being rushed. The real treasure of the Sitar is the masterfully prepared meals. I ordered of the menu and a slight deviation from the menu. Let me tell, wow. It was some of most tasty food I've had in a while. Great place for customer.

If you don't have the time/patience to read this, listen, "stay the hell away from this place, it was a cruel joke." It was THE WORST experience for my wife and me and I don't think we will have a worse experience than this ever again. Don't fall for the reviews on Google. The dishes looked like they were placed on the buffet for several days. One review from last year listed the dishes and they were all exactly the same dishes when we went there a couple of days ago. The only chicken dish that was there on the buffet was empty when we went there. After asking several times and waiting for 40-45 mins, they brought 6 pieces of chicken. That's right, SIX and that too very cheap low quality of drumsticks. Not marinated well and not properly cooked. There were about 15 people in the restaurant, 3-4 people were at the table when they brought those 6 pieces of chicken. I waited for them to fill their plates and those 6 pieces were filled by the 3-4 people. So after waiting for 45 minutes (12pm-12:45pm prime time for lunch), we didn't have any chicken. There was not even one decent dish to eat. The naans were cold and looked like they were torn after the burnt areas were removed by hand. I asked the waiter why the naans are so small and looked like they were torn. My guess was right, they removed the burnt portions by hand. The owner/chef brought some green peas to add and make the cabbage fry look a little better as it didn't look fresh. the lemon and the other pickle was placed in jars and the lids of the jars and parts of the spoons had fungus. 2 desserts were a rice kheer and gulab jamun placed in 2 small square bowls for all the customers. (individual size bowls used at home for ice cream or Maggi, etc.). I regret not taking pictures of the buffet table, pictures would have made it clear for everyone. Instead of enjoying the food while we were at the restaurant I observed the the owner and waiter as I could not stop myself wondering "how in the world they run a restaurant like this and get away with it and what's up with the great reviews on Google ?" We were fooled by the great reviews. They looked like they didn't want to refill the table with food as they probably didn't have any in the kitchen or have very little left to MANAGE the rest of the lunch time. that guy looked very unhappy when he brought the 6 pieces of chicken. He came out a couple of mins later and saw the empty chicken tray and I didn't even bother to ask the guy as I saw the look on his face that he couldn't believe that it was empty already. I think they don't have a decent customer flow on any given day so they put cheap and poorly made dishes on the table and don't make enough to refill, no revenue no quantity or quality of food. It's a freaking dead lock. I repeat stay away from this place. Lots of other Indian restaurants in the area. We tried Shefali and kochin you won't go wrong with either of those 2.
