We've been here many times while visiting the city. I would say that the restaurant is hit and miss. Sometimes the service is very slow. The food is usually pretty good. Not as good as the Hawaii locations, but considering where we are this one isn't bad. Last night everything was great. The service and food. We made a reservation and got a window seat. I like to be by the window cause this place is a little dark. My husband order the macadamia nut crusted Maui and it was a nice size and had a nice crust on it. I ordered the garlic shrimp special and that was good. We started with a roll and the sauce was a nice touch. We ended the night with Roy's lava cake. This is hit and miss at this location, usually overdone. Last night was perfection. It had a nice crust and it definitely had the ooze factor. It was the perfect way to end the meal!

Very polished restaurant offering Hawaiian fusion cuisine. Seafood is the star here. Aloha hour (happy hour) is one of the best deals in San Francisco with reasonably priced drinks and tasty appetizers. TVs are also located in the bar so you can watch sports while you socialize if you do not choose the formal dinning route.

Excellent service. Very attentive, prompt, pleasant, well informed. Reminded me of waiters in Switzerland, who are extremely professional and efficient. I had the seared scallops over some fancy black-colored rice. Very good, but not great. Menu was very diverse, and I would like to try some of their other items, paticularly the red meats.

We were an early reservation so the place wasn't full. We were seated on the top level of the restaurant and seated towards the very back of the room with the most lighting, we should've got better seating, especially with a friend who is SF food critic at the table. It wasn't the most elegant part of the restaurant. It took at least 30 minutes to be served a glass of water-basically the ordered drinks came first. The group I came with were sitting there waiting too long for a glass of water. Always offer water before you can get to the real drink list. Sitting there with nothing is never a way to start a "supposed" fine dining experience. For the most part the dining experience was okay. I ordered their ribeye steak medium rare, I've ordered it this way in many restaurants and have only had one other experience where I could say the temperature of my steak wasn't done right. I was served a very rare steak, however they were very accommodating in taking it back and cooking it a little bit more. Which I never like to do because I never want to offend the chef nor have any chef do anything to my meal. When it came back from the kitchen it was pretty delightful, a little bit more cooked than I would have liked-but very good- compliments of the chef!! Probably the worst experience was going to the bathroom. For what I would call a pretty nice place-I was a little bit thrown off by the bathroom-they could do better, and keep it much cleaner. There were mistakes like my dessert coming with raspberry sauce instead of Carmel, but hey no one is perfect. Roy's is nice, but I'd only go back if someone really wanted to go.

Visiting from out of town, and ended up at Roy's. Service was outstanding, and the food was even better. Next time I'm in town, Roy's will definitely be revisited!
