Sorry but even with the name change I am not impressed with this restaurant chain. I find their food to not be a good value for what they charge. The portions aren't skimpy yet I find them lacking something that puts them into those price levels. I do like their in-house made 🥕 carrot cake. It is very good and is served warm. Also it is large enough to share so no one has to feel guilty about having dessert.

I got the steak tacos and they weren't anything special. It was more lettuce than anything else. If the name the meal is "steak tacos" I feel it's a safe assumption that steak would be the majority of what's on the taco. I didn't order steak salad tacos. We went for lunch at noon and the noise level of everyone talking in there was obnoxious I could barely hear the person sitting right beside me. The only reason it want a 1star is because the place was clean and service was fast.

Get the Maui rib eye steak, it is fabulous. The Caesar salad is also the best...if they have the smoked salmon get that on the Caesar. Also ask them to bring you some of the cornbread croutons on the side. My friends love the macaroni and cheese. I have not had anything at J. Alexander's that I didn't like. Great atmosphere as well....I visit often.

One of my favorite Tampa gems. The food is always on point, and they have a great wine selection. Try the fire roasted Artichokes... best I've ever had, and honestly, it's the appetizer that keeps me coming back. They have a "daily specials" menu which i order from 60% of the time.... the Thai BBQ Salmon is amazing. Couscous, Prime Rib, Creamy Spinach, ohhh, and the Carrot Cake... do it! The atmosphere cannot be beat, dark and cozy. The staff is professional, attentive, and very well managed. Best upscale restaurant that you can patronize in a ball gown, or shorts and a tee.
