I was excited to try this place because I see that they are always packed when I drive by. Upon entering the restaurant, it looks very fun. They have various items decorated around the restaurant like you are in Chicago. I approached the counter and my order was quickly taken. I ordered a double patty burger, meat and bread only. I also ordered onion rings and a large coke. I moved down to the area where your food is available after it's cooked. I wait and I wait. One of the people ask me what my number is and I tell them. Then I wait and I wait. Five minutes later they asked me what I ordered. I gave them the receipt and they take it back to the kitchen. Before doing so, they ask me how I wanted my burger cooked. I replied, meat and bread only. Three minutes later they have my food ready and asked me what kind of cake I wanted because of the wait. I replied that I wanted the chocolate cake. I grab some napkins and a straw and I sat at a table. I pull out the burger box and situate my onion rings. I open my burger and they put everything and the kitchen sink on it. At this point I'm really irritated because of the inanity of the situation. I bring the burger back up and tell them how I ordered it. I didn't wait for them. I sat down and started eating my onion rings. Within two minutes, the guy is running my burger over to me. Overall, the people were really friendly. The food tasted great. I gave three stars because they gave me cake without asking or it would have been two stars. I will give this place another chance.

This was my first time visiting a Portillo's restaurant and I came in with high expectations since I have heard such great things about it. Turns out, my experience was far from great. I ordered a cheeseburger only mayo, cheese fries and a drink. A pretty basic order. I waited over a half and hour for my food. After waiting an eternity, I finally went up to the pick up counter. I waited over 5 minutes for a staff member to acknowledge me. I come to find out that they had completely forgotten my order. My fiance ordered a rib dinner that came out quicker! I already had a bad taste in my mouth from just the customer service alone. Upon actually getting my food, The burger was covered in mayo to the point of the burger being inedible. It was greasy and low quality for the price. The cheese fries were good, fries were room temperature. The only reason I am giving any stars for the place is because of the chocolate eclair cake and the cheese sauce. I understand Friday nights can be hectic at most places but this place had a full staff. I don't think I will be returning.

Pretty interesting restaurant. It has that Disney quality feel with the decor and music. Felt a bit hectic but I guess it captures that authentic Chicago eatery feel. The restrooms seem to be too dirty and small for how crowded and busy it gets. It seems that they serve beer and other things from different counters. When you first walk in, where you are supposed to pick up the food but you have to wander far to the side to actually order.

Beautiful restaurant with great service. Lots of menu items to choose from. They serve beer if you like. Clean dining room and restrooms. I was not impressed with the food I ordered and had grease all over the table and running down my arm. No napkins on the tables. I will give this place another try and order something different next time since everyone I know raves about how good the food is.

Unbelievable that It's fast food. Try the hot dogs all the way and Italian beef. You won't be sorry. The lemon pie was to die for. Strawberry shortcake to go was amazing. Fun, family friendly atmosphere. Great service.
