Went for breakfast....a little expensive for breakfast but not a wallet buster either. I had catfish and grits....catfish was excellent grits were tasty but way too much and taste became tiring after a few bites...French bread was hard... hot chocolate with whipped cream DELICIOUS!hubby had "spice up yo life" omelette spicy chicken sausage wasn't very spicy and egg was cooked a bit hard. Orange juice was bitter. Waitress was very down to earth and friendly. Food came out hot and in timely fashion. Front doors could have used some Windex and papertowel... cafe overall could use a little sprucing up. Would love to come back and try the oxtails for lunch but breakfast was not memorable enough for me to remember to come back

I support black business but I will not hold my tongue, especially if it is for the betterment of our people. I enjoyed the food but will not be back and here’s why... I understand that you all are very new but the communication and teamwork is lacking in this restaurant. The waitress was not very attentive to any of her tables, me and the rest of the guests in her section had to ask the other waitress to tend to us. Silverware should be the FIRST thing placed at the table along with asking for drink orders, that’s just restaurant/hospitality standards. Along with my absent waitress the host was very nonchalant and indifferent about guests. I also did not enjoy the fact that the employees do not have a uniform, I need a structural look so that I can identify who is who. I also believe the waiting section needs to be finished as it is the first thing is customers see before we enter the restaurant, and will set the mood for the rest of our experience, maybe paint the walls to match the rest of the restaurant instead of leaving it unfinished. I felt like I was waiting on a patio, we can’t have screen doors inside, maybe you should just remove it. When I see things like this I feeel as thought you’re not as invested in the ambience of the store. A lot of customers left during my visit due to the wait times, let’s work on expediting our services! :) Overall you all need more structure and refinement.

First off, the place & location are great. I went after working midnights so I was very hungry and tired. It was around 9:30am, I saw salmon croquettes and was very disappointed that they were out of them so early in the morning. I ordered the shrimp/grits and I didn't like the look but tried them anyway. When the waitress inquired about how I liked everything, I was honest and explained that I didn't care for the red sauce, which appeared to be marinara or spaghetti sauce which in my opinion is not a good combination for grits. I only had one bite so I said I would try and see. I took another fork full and was done. It just wasn't for me. I asked for my check and at this point I felt the waitress should have offered me to try something else, but I got my check and paid. I was exhausted and just ready to go. I left with thoughts of giving them one more try. When I got home, I decided to call instead of writing review and asked for the Manager. Doug came on, I explained my experience with emphasis on being tired more than anything and my willingness to give them another try. I shared how many friends and coworkers look for restaurant referrals from me all the time. He obviously either didn't care or didn't listen to me. He pointed out that the shrimp and grits is their most popular item and told me that I should have spoke to them while I was there. UNBELIEVABLE!! I was exhausted and didn't like my food and still paid. I was trying to give a courtesy call instead of posting a review. There was no apologetic tone in his voice nor did I acknowledge any evidence that he cared. I'm not sure if Doug is the owner or manager; however, he should be very careful about having a mediocre attitude with ANY customer. You have no idea who I know and how large your establishment could have blown up just by a few calls. I really do wish the best for the restaurant but me and my entourage will not be coming.

Was excited about a new breakfast restaurant in the area. The hostess never greeted us, we had to ask to be seated. The server came over 10/15 minutes later. The food was just okay, and a bit over priced. The restaurant looks unfinished, there’s a screen door in the place like you would see at someone’s home... not visually appealing at all. The restaurant lacks decor, not inviting at all. I really wanted to like Arize, I doubt if I’ll return.

Service upon entering and leaving was HORRIBLE! I enjoy small and local businesses so decided to give this a try with my family. No one greeted us and we just kinda sat down eventually at an open table. The wait time to place drinks and food order took forever. We waited thinking that the food would speak for itself and that it would be worth it, it wasn't. The food was mediocre and naturally the order was mixed up and all of the food didn't come at once (we wait for everyone to have their food before eating as a family). Coffee was not 100% hot and refills took a while to come for water and sweet tea. Although we were in family and talking it took 45min to get a check after we had requested it 3 different times (2 hours spent in total in this restuarant). We tipped our waitress well because it was not entirely her fault but we certainly will NOT go back and certainly will not recommend this to ANYONE! I did notice a total of 4 different parties walk out as we were there, so we were not the only ones we noticed the poor service. At least they got a 100 on thier health score.
