Marikka's is our go-to hangout spot in Lexington. We have been playing volleyball there for seven years now (minus the time they were closed for the rebuild). Do I love the "new" Marikka's like I loved the "old" Marikka's?! NO. However, there is no where else in Lexington to get German food AND play on quality sand volleyball courts. The parking isn't great, but it seems to be getting better. I do still miss the "upscale-hole-in-the-wall" and darkness of the "old" Marikka's, but I am finally warming up to the "new" Marikka's and accepting the change.

I enjoyed the atmosphere. I am from Florida so this was a great place that should definitely expand. The only thing I didn't like was the bartender serving us. He came off like a douche bag constantly correcting people and never came back to ask us if we were ready for more as we sat there with our glasses empty. I guess you have to let them know? I have been a server and a bartender before and regardless of the person sitting at the bar you should still check up on the people that ordered from you. We left after sitting there for 15 min waiting to try and get another beer. Honestly that was the only issue. The rest of the place was fantastic.

Fantastic! The menu has changed just slightly it seems since reopening, but it still has everything I liked. We avoided it since they expanded the bar area and added the indoor, sand volleyball courts. I think we were concerned about it becoming an alcohol driven college raunch-fest, but we didn't experience any of that. It should be noted that there were no games going on, so maybe it gets a little crazy. It was packed and we waited in the bar area ... and enjoyed every minute of it.

Took an entire 40 minutes to get my beer. Bartender looked me in the eye over and over as she walked past me. I was leaning over the bar holding cash with no drink so very obvious I wanted to order. The restaurant was nice. Wurst and sauerkraut were great. But I didn't not get the gravy I was asked if I wanted and the was a golf ball sized Chuck of uncooked potato in my mashed potatoes. Not to mention the basically nonexistent parking.

New space is awesome. A few small things could be done but they are still working things out. Volleyball and beer are great and that's all I care about. I saw bleachers were added this week, hopefully some coat racks are added soon by the volleyball courts. Also could hand out a number when food is ordered so severs can find people easier.
