What can i say!!!! Believe the hype!!! Now I normally don't fall into the trap of "it was on food network" when it comes to restaurants ESPECIALLY when we are referring to soul food BUT it was ammmazzing!! we did have to wait in a line but it was worth it. I ordered the fried chicken which was extremely moist and crispy without being soggy and for my side i had make and cheese. the mac and cheese was so good I had to order another.

We waited too long to be seated just to find out out they were out of Mac and cheese... which is all my kids eat. They had to get a peanut and butter jelly sandwich that was almost $8 each. And they were still hungry. I paid $15 for a 3 piece chicken plate which was tasty but not worth the price. We also had to pay per each Individual corn bread piece, which was ridiculous! $160 for 8 of us and all my kids got were sandwiches. Definitely not worth the wait or price! Better luck on bourbon street or a another chicken restaurant downtown.

Totally worth the wait. The place seats a lot of people inside, so the line moves relatively quickly. I don't know how they get it so crispy but it's unlike any fried chicken I've ever had, and I fancy myself a connoisseur. Definitely deserving of the "Best Fried Chicken" title. Staff is super friendly as well, especially considering it's always slammed with new customers.

Service was great! I went an hour after opening but the wait time was less than 5 minutes. On to the food. This has to be the BEST chicken I’ve ever eaten. I’m from NOLA and this tops my mother’s chicken. It’s seasoned to perfection but that’s not the best part, The CRUST is like eating a piece of heaven. The crust reminds me of tempura. Imagine them wrapping the chicken in filo, THE CRUST IS DAMN GOOD. lol. The peas were sweet like I enjoy them and the macaroni was great too. Don’t forget to get a cornbread muffin, they are delicious!! Can’t wait to come back home and enjoy more of their chicken!

I went to NOLA for the first time, for my birthday and someone recommended that I try Willie Mae's. I arrived and was surprised because there were people standing outside waiting in line. The place didn't look like a restaurant from the outside but as I waited in line, I heard people say that they heard that this was the best fried chicken in the south. The actual restaurant is fairly small, but we were seated a lot quicker than I had expected. The food came out fast and it was all delicious. The peas were amazing! I would highly recommend going to eat at Willie Mae's!!
