Char Bar has awesome food! I've been wanting to try this place since they were featured on The Food Network. We had a gem of a server that was knowledgeable and attentive. We ordered several items, and I would order all of them again! It was hard to choose, but this is what we got: {Happy Hour Menu} Lobster Deviled Eggs - I just love all deviled eggs. {Happy Hour Menu} Beer-Battered Pickles - huge portion...we were surprised, especially for happy hour price! {Starters} Jumbo Smoked Chicken Wings - wing sauce is always tricky for me, but we both liked it! Different than anything I've had before...tangy & peppery + their house ranch w/ chives is delicious! {Starters} Charred Bits & Grits - some of the best burnt ends we've had (crispy, not too fatty) and the grits were perfectly cooked.

Food was tasty, but very small portions for the price. But what is going on with all the dogs? Who takes their pet to a restaurant?!? It's probably a swell place if your M.O. is to use your dog to initiate a meaningful overnight relationship. However, if you want to have dinner with your family without a flea-bitten animal pissing on the floor beside your table, choose one of the many better restaurants within walking distance.

Evening didn't start well trying to find parking for a stock F250. FYI parking garage is only 7'. Wife and I were seated in a fairly empty area inside, but yet were seated right next to the only other couple inside. Seating is so close too each other. It's hard to even have a semi private conversation without thinking the other table is listening. The waiter was very great, and quick to bring our orders. The Beer Battered Pickles have a great batter, just wish they were chips instead of Spears. Lastly, we both had the 2 meat platter (brisket, sausage, chicken, turkey). The food was great and everything I expected from the hype. But was disappointed in the serving size. At the end my wife and I were still hungry but didn't want to pay for another course or desert. The picture shown was after I took a few bites of the beans and maybe two of the sausages. More style over substance

I really used to like Char Bar. It's a great environment with a fantastic menu. Who did they let get a hold of the drink menu?! The prices are absolutely outrageous. $7-$10 whisky really isn't very out of line, but a double should be maybe $3-$4 more. Instead they charge an extra $5-$6 for a not-quite double. What happened to the Derby Cup? $8 for a decent bourbon cocktail. Please don't charge $12 for an Old Fashioned just because you burn the simple syrup. Get some basic classic cocktails on there without the sticker shock. Pretty please.

You will enjoy the atmosphere pleasant staff and some of THE most flavorful deeply smoked meats in KC! Char Bar has won me over as a distant #1 pick for BBQ! You simply MUST experience this place & don't forget Mitch's Meat Sauce for goodness sake!! 🤗🙌♥️
