This place is gross. The food didn't taste fresh and was not hit even after they microwaved it. I seen they had a side called jalapeno beans so I was excited to try something new. He mistakenly gave me backed beans so when I started I had jalapeno beans he says oh ok, takes them back and brings same beans back with jalapenos grown on top 😂 I also had potatoes casserole and it tasted like school glue. The dining area was very cold and uncomfortable. We will not be going back ever.

If you want fast food type BBQ then this is your place. As far as taste the chicken was tender but didn't taste like chicken exactly. The beef was very dry. Sides I had were loaded mashed casserole basically just instant potatoes with some flavoring and cheese on top. BBQ beans were pork n beans out of a can. Not impressed for $9.99 free ice cream but just blah tasting. I doubt I'll return because I left with the worst heartburn and it's still burning 4 hours later. The only tasty thing was the sauce.

Every Kansas City native should always be on the look out for the greatest BBQ around. It's an ever changing environment with new comers, old familiars, and chain places. Dickey's in a word is 'typical'. There isn't anything particularly special about this place to me. Well, they had an ice cream machine. The atmosphere is usual bare bones kind of place, good mix of music playing at a reasonable volume, lots of windows. They have a drive thru which is not usual for a BBQ place, but I can't imagine trying to eat a BBQ sandwich or baked beans while driving... lost on me. They also have little chunk ice that I know some people love, but they ran out at 11:30 am on my visit, but I am not particular to the ice. The sauces were good, but they didn't have them on the table (also the paper towels are mounted on the walls... odd). Some BBQ places have different sauces that are completely unique, but Dickey's has their original sauce then a spicy and a sweet version. I believe they are all the base sauce, but then they add chili flakes to make it spicy, and maybe some sugar to make sweet. Essentially I liked them, but if you don't like one you won't like any of them. FYI the spicy isn't hot, just a little heat. It was a thursday at lunch and only 2 guys were working, but it wasn't busy and there service was fast, I could see it getting really busy though. Coke products, tea, and water naturally. The BBQ meat itself was good... but... I paid $16 for a sandwich and two small sides and drink. I am not a fan of the gimmicky plastic cup. The baked beans were okay, not much meat in them the way I love it, but with some sauce in them they were better. The green beans were about perfect. There wasn't any bacon, but not an overwhelming onion flavor either. I liked them. The parking situation is a nightmare. Would I come back? Maybe, if someone else was driving and it was slow. Nothing special, safely not the best in Kansas City. Most places display their BBQ awards proudly, but I didn't see anything that mentioned they even competed.

Always love visiting Dickey's. Unfortunately for them, but fortunately for me, it is usually quiet with few patrons when I visit. This makes it a great spot for date night with my daughter. We can nerd out talking about Star Wars without feeling socially awkward or annoying others. Good is always great.

It's not the best barbeque (especially in Kansas City), but it's great for quick BBQ. Plus the staff members are really nice.
