The service was decent, don't get me wrong, but the food vs the price is just unimpressive. One shrimp, one tiny mussel, one octopus (per person when split between 2) and a bunch of rice with peas and carrot pieces for the price they charge? Plus those were the thinnest slices of calamari I've ever seen. The black squid ink does well to hide the parts of the food that was burnt or overcooked. It's like you're eating in the dark. Seems like an over glorified stir-fry. The rice, or whatever the filling was, seemed mushy in some areas and overcooked around the edges. One thing to note; if you go without a reservation, expect to be shown the door or given a table at the back with all the foot traffic. That place is packed. I just don't understand the appeal and don't see myself spending this much on this kind of meal in the future. Only reason I got a table was because I was with a party of 4.

Intimate setting. Little crowded. Music was good. Little too loud. Food was good. Staff was perfectly attentive.

There isn't much Spanish food in San Antonio, so if you have a craving and some money to burn, Toro will set you up fairly nicely. Most plates are tapas and indeed quite small, albeit sometimes far too small given the price point. Paella Toro was one of the better paellas we've had with just the right texture and balance of flavor. There was not a ton of seafood, but it was cooked well enough. The conchinita pibil tacos were fantastic. I just wish there was more meat, but the flavor rivals that of Guajillo's and Cascabel Mexican Patio. The fideo seco is a dry (i.e. no soup/broth) fideo, which was fine, but I prefer wet fideo more. The croquetas de jamón serrano were delicious with the Bechamel and ham providing hearty and creamy flavor. Finally, the chorizo al infierno was quite tasty as well (and one of the more filling dishes) as it's a bed of fries with Spanish chorizo and a quail egg. All of the ingredients were done well, but their Spanish chorizo stole the show. In short, Toro is a great place to go if you love Spanish tapas, and it doesn't have much competition around San Antonio, at least that I am aware of.

Excellent in all categories. The food is top-notch, waiter was of inmense help in exploring their menu & pairing for our Tablado ( knowledgeable staff, as well as very welcoming and friendly). Atmosphere & everything else is superb. Can't say enough good things about this now fave restaurant.
