This was my first time there, my girlfriend has been here many times over the years. I've been to many Mexican Restaurants since coming to San Antonio last December. Not a single one comes close to this one so far. Friendly service, we were seated quickly. The drinks, chips and salsa were at our table in short order. I had the Chef's Plate, it was so good. The words Excellent, Exquisite, Incredible or just flat out the very best I've ever had. Back up in Fort Worth there was only one place close to being this good, Mercado Juarez. Mexican Manhattan needs to be on your list of great restaurants, just be aware that it's downtown and parking can cost you a lot. We parked at the Library, just 10 minutes away and the first 3 hours are free, $5 for the day.

We went here for dinner after being recommended by the desk clerk at the hotel where we were staying. I ordered the nachos but with chicken instead of beef. I was curious because the menu shows it's only 7 chips. But it was very filling and when it was brought out they had put beef on it not chicken. I decided to try it instead of sending it back. It was very good and tender. My husband got the chicken fajitas and had no complaints. He said it was very good as well. I definitely recommend this place. The staff was so friendly. When our waitress came to check on us she would even ask our two year old how her food was (which was rice with lettuce and tomatoes because she decided that she wasn't eating meat again.) like I did very friendly. Also don't let the outside fool you. It's very large and roomy on the inside.

This place used to be one of my favorites, unfortunately it is going downhill. I braved the road closures downtown today to get there only to have to wait 20 minutes for a table, half the restaurant was "closed". We waited 10 more minutes at our table for the waitress to come and take our order, she brought our drinks and a small plate with 5 corn chips, not the usual small basket with plentiful chips. We then waited an additional 30 minutes and no food arrived, we left without eating. There's plenty Mexican food restaurants downtown with excellent service and good food. Never coming back here again, so sad to see this Tex-Mex restaurant go down like this.

I have been coming here since the early 90s. The food here is delicious. If you're a fan of having plenty of cheese on nachos, then I would recommend trying the bean & cheese nachos. Pretty much every Mexican restaurant I go to, I have a tendency of getting the cheese enchiladas, but this place is the exception. Not because they're not good, but because the crispy beef tacos are just that good that I don't get my usual. I also have a habit of getting just one as they are so filled that you can make some your own soft tacos with their corn tortillas and some butter. Definitely a place to visit whether you're a tourist or a SA native!

The 1st time I went I had a issue with the waiter completely forgetting my order, the manager comped my order so I really wasn't upset at all. I still came back and the experience was much better this time. I even had a table right off the river walk which was nice.
