Went for drinks and dessert with another couple. Ended up having appetizers and the clam chowder. Wow! Fantastic soup! Apps were very nice as well. The spouse had dessert and seemed to enjoy it. My dessert was a bourbon. The waitress was very good and competent. She was able to offer clear suggestions without hesitation. Any drawbacks? Price. This place is way out of my league which is why I have only been twice, but if it were someplace I could afford, I would be there much more often!

I enjoyed my visit to The Boat House at Rockett's Landing. First let me say that the setting is beautiful, looking out over the Mighty James river during brunch today was wonderful. The staff was warm and friendly and made sure we had everything the way we wanted it. The food is Top Chef quality I believe it was the best food I've ever tasted. And I like to try a kinds of different restaurants. I can't wait until my next visit.

Love it! I bought a gift certificate for my parents so they could enjoy their last anniversary (38 yrs) together (my dad had Brain Cancer). I called ahead and got them reservations for a nice table near the windows and that beautiful view! I was very nervous because I wanted them to have such a wonderful time and everything to be just perfect. Well.... they came back and said the meal was absolutely wonderful. They said it was some of the best food they have ever had. They loved their seating and the view. Thank you Boathouse for making this special for them (even though you didn't know it was special).

Spectacular... we were walk-ins at around 7pm on Prom night Saturday. Had us seated on the balcony overlooking the James River immediately. Fabulous food, Antarctic Salmon, Shrimp and Hrits with sausage and a flight of baked oysters. Excellent service. Only negative was the bread pudding was only ok. All other food was great.

This place was very classy and upscale. The food was excellent. The prices are what you would expect from a restaurant that you make a reservation to go to. We had a table overlooking the James River. We took my parents here for their 50th wedding anniversary. There were 5 of us, 3 ordered 1 alcoholic beverage each, 1 ordered iced tea and 1 water. 4 of us ordered desert and along with dinner, the total bill was about $180 . The Boathouse at Rocket's Landing is totally worth the money. We checked with our server and they DO receive their charge tips at the end of their shift. There is outdoor seating available and there are gas lamps but it was too cold to dine outdoors when we were there in January. I plan to go there when it's warm so I can experience the outdoor seating overlooking the James River. I would recommend eating here occasionally or for special occasions.
