Best BBQ I’ve had since I lived down south!! I’m a sous-chef and this is the way I’d run a BBQ/ southern restaurant if I had the chance. Caught a brewers game afterwards for a great day. Lots of care taken, I’ve heard they source heritage breeds from sustainable farms. So good! Worth the detour. Great outdoor seating area for the warmer months

Iron Grate fills that meaty void left by the local, unfortunate demise of Ashley's. Their location isn't great. They're near the airport. They are small. They are a bit pricey. However, I think when you eat there, you'll see, the cost is worth it. The food's great, the menu small as the place itself. It's worth it because you won't get bbq this unique, and by unique I mean both good and also original, anywhere else. The tastes this place puts up are different in a non-traditional good way. I only put 4 stars as the cuts are largely pork belly which is fatty; I don't eat the fat. Sorry, q nerds, I don't. It's unseemly to me. But, that being said, all their sides, all their entrees are good - and yes, I've tried them all. Good food and good service.

I just found out about this local gem. I liked it so much I took my parents for dinner the next night! The pulled pork is delicious and the hush puppies are amazing! The three meat and three side plate is totally enough for three people. The dining area is well decorated, inviting, and clean. Definitely recommend!

We stopped in for lunch. Not what I expected. Everything on the menu is somewhat pricey. I wanted a basic sandwich but that isn't offered. We ended up getting two meats, three sides with two drinks and spent $40. You order the food at a window and it is dropped off at your table. After they dropped off the food, we had no plates, napkins, silverware. We sat there looking around and saw a bookshelf with plates and silverware. You have to get up and retrieve all that yourself. Drinks are three dollars and come in a medium solo cup. If you want a refill on your drink, you will have to get up and ask for a refill. No one comes to check on you or ask if you need anything. We had ribs and pulled pork and both were excellent. The meat is really tasty. The sides don't appear to be homemade and were not as good as the meat. Texas toast is given with the meal. It comes untoasted and when we asked could they toast our bread they did it reluctantly. When you pay it asks do you want to add a gratuity starting at 15%. I asked the girl at the window why they are asking customers to tip when the customers are waiting on themselves. She replied, "We clean the table after you leave." Well that's like a buffet and the tip is more like a dollar. Overall, delicious bbque with average sides. It is extremely expensive for the experience.

This is the best BBQ I've had in Milwaukee, hands down. No place else comes close to the portions, the quality, or the attention these fine folks give their patrons. The best meats give way to some of the best sides! The grits are some of the best I've had since leaving New Orleans, the greens are done perfectly, the beans were great! Again, the attention to detail is really what makes this place stand out.
