Off all my renovations over the last 5 years, Floorright is my biggest regret.
They were the 1st place I went when I was searching for flooring. I wanted to install carpet in my basement. Told the salesman if the I could do the whole house I would. He walked me through some products and we ended up finding flooring fir the entire house. The quality control guy came and walked through the house and the quote came after, it was very affordable. To save money I did the demolition of all tbe flooring myself. I screwed down all the sub floor and eliminated every squeak. They started upstairs installing laminate. I pointed out day one that the floor was clicking in spots. I marked all the spots with painters tape. The next day they tried to fix them and continued installing but the clicking continued and really just multiplied. Then we had to change the type of flooring we were going to use on the stairs because it wouldn't work according to the installers. So we went with vinyl and that is by far my favorite decision. The installers were great. The quality control guy assured me that once the baseboard and a humidifier was installed that my flooring would no longer react the way it does. He demonstrated this by cranking my heat up to 25 degrees. Sure enough, the floor became quieter. I installed base boards and a humidifier but the clicking was still there. I'm not cranking my heat to 25 year round. So I complained enough that the owner came over. He agreed with me, so I'm not crazy, however they could only replace the flooring with the same product. Quality control guy suggested a eider, thicker laminate. It actually looked like a great solution. He told me to put a few pieces down on top of a problem area and see if it helped. It did not. I was so disappointed. There was no sense installing more of the same product. The result was, they allowed me to cancel the rest of my flooring. I have since bought 2 types of laminate from lowes and installed them in the 2 bedrooms upstairs. They both had far better results then the floor I had professionally installed. On the upside, it looks good. Aside from some transitions that haven't really held up, the flooring has held up nicely as long as you don't walk on the floor barefoot or in socks, it's a nice floor. All the effort I put forward to make a quiet floor upstairs was ruined. I would give a lower review except the salesman, owner and installers were all pretty good. It was the quality control guy that I had the problem with. We could have changed products after day 1 but he kept assuring me that it was normal. 5yrs later, I still hate the feel of this floor. Other people I have met say it was the fault of the installers not leveling the floor properly. I don't actually know who's to blame. I didn't do any leveling in my other 2 rooms but we used an amazing underlay. All I know is that the flooring we did ourselves turned out far better then the professionals.
