United Floors

Last year I worked with Jake at United Flooring and he was amazing. I would have rated United as a 5 star because of his customer service, the quality of the materials and finished installation. However, there was a HUGE mix up on the day of the installation: I discovered that they had the WRONG flooring material. I was just on my way to leave the apartment and I thought I better open these boxes and check to make sure it's the right stuff - and it wasn't. It was an ugly bright orange thing and that was not what I had ordered which was a brown-toupe coloured vinyl tile. Please note that this discovery occurred after an hour of their workers moving appliances and the workers bringing in tools and equipment. Thank god I checked the box before I left otherwise they would have installed the wrong floor and would have had to come back to rip it out. I was very upset as I had to arrange my schedule again and had to wait weeks which put other renovations behind. However, Jake was so apologetic and valued my business and went out of his way to make things right. Eventually, I had vinyl plank installed in my kitchen, bathroom and laundry room and it looks amazing. I highly recommend the product because it looks like tile but is way easier to install and you don't have to deal with grout problems later on and the bonus is if you like to renovate, it's easier to remove to redecorate / update the look of the rooms. So had I reviewed United last year, I would have given them a 5 star. The reason I rated United so poorly today is because the customer service I received this morning was very poor. I forgot to do the flooring of the linen closet which is small 2 feet X 2 feet and when I asked if they could help me they told me that I'd have to order a huge amount because it's a special order. When I asked if there was any way they could keep my name and number and notify me if someone ordered it the representative said no and blew me off and didn't answer my other questions I had about transition strips and outdoor carpet for my patio. I do not feel like a valued customer and I won't be using them for my small job, or for commercial property in the family and I won't be recommending them to the strata councils I belong to. You shouldn't blow off what seems to be a small job because you might lose out on much larger business deals later on.
