I went in to this location today looking to buy some laminate flooring. I have been shopping around in Maple Ridge for a few weeks. The guy behind the counter asked how he could help so I told him I was looking for pricing on some laminate and installation. I told him I would do everything else myself including buying and laying the underlay. I don't know what set him off but he was really snotty to me after that. I said "thanks" and left. I have no other experience with this business other then this but you know what they say about first impressions....... ************ My response to the owner's response. You're right, this was a very unusual encounter. I did come in asking questions, but as soon as I mentioned that I wanted just the installation of the floor itself, the conversation went south. I am a busy person, I don't have time for rudeness and bad attitudes - especially from someone I am looking to do business with. I was gobsmacked by your attitude and I didn't know what else to do but leave the store. You did not offer an explanation as to why the installers like to lay underlay themselves, I would have listened. I was going off the advice of a very experienced friend who builds houses. He told me we would dispose of the old floor and repair anything we needed to, then lay the underlay to save some money. You didn't know that because you didn't ask. You just started on with your bad attitude as soon as I asked about pricing without underlay. You even made me feel bad about a brand that I had asked about saying "that's overpriced crap". If you had spoken to me with respect and helped me like I was looking for, I probably would have done business with you instead of one of your competitors who by the way, really know how to make someone feel like they matter, even when they are making unusual requests such as mine. I'm not making this up, I don't go around trying to ruin people's businesses for fun. Your response is defensive and full of inaccurate facts about our conversation. The bottom line is, I know nothing about floors and i was looking for the help of an expert. You were really rude so I spent my money elsewhere.
