since day 1 everything went wrong:
location for new floors: basement- den, 2 bedrooms, hallway, and laundry room
reason for new floors: appearance and strange dip in floor that needed repair
BEGINNING:
-took 3 different days to get measurements for flooring (causing my dad to miss 2 days of work). we also pointed out the areas of concern where we suspected damage to be repaired. they said they could fix it.
-took several weeks to get quote even with repeated phone calls, email, and store visits
-told dad that we shouldn't use these people but he ignored me
-arranged flooring to be delivered (they charge for delivery) but they only delivered to the door making my dad, who has a bad knee, to carry the boxes downstairs
-dad and i removed old flooring/trim to save money. we found rotting sub floor and 3 board of quick fix particle board that were disintegrating (hence the dip in floor)
-told store about it and they assured us they could fix it with plywood
-we also told them that certain furniture (1 bed, 2 dressers, 1 couch, and a media unit) wasn't able to be moved out the rooms where the new flooring was going. we were told that was OK
INSTALLATION BEGINS:
-Imad did the flooring
-complained about furniture and refused to put flooring under laundry machines (things we were told previously was perfectly ok)
-went down after first day and saw that he had started putting the flooring ontop of the rotting floor
-didn't rip it up or repair it
-we ripped up 2 of 3 particle boards that were in the worst condition and asked Imad to rip up the last one and also replace it with plywood
-Imad replaced the 2 ripped up board but not the 3rd and put flooring over it
-could see the particle board was still there but Imad kept lying saying that he had replaced it
-we demanded a new installer but Lumber Liquidators refused and just sent an additional man with Imad
-neither one took initiative to come and ask questions (i was just upstairs and they could've called my dad whenever)
-would make mistakes instead of asking what we wanted and wouldn't repair them afterwards
-went down to tell them i was leaving for an interview and to call my dad for any questions. i was then bombarded with question after question that they could've asked me hours ago before i had to leave.
-after the questions Imad insisted i sign a paper saying the job was done, even though it wasn't
-i told him repeatedly i don't think i should sign because i wasn't the one paying but Imad insisted
-i signed because I really needed to leave and my anxiety of my interview was getting worse and worse
-i called my dad on my way to the interview to tell him what happened.
FINAL PRODUCT:
-there were pieces of trim that weren't installed properly or weren't installed at all
-they refused to do the flooring under the laundry so that isn't complete (i agreed to it not being finished because i wanted them out of my house)
-after looking at the bill we realized we were overcharged and demanded the amount of money it was going to cost for our contractor the finish the job.
-after weeks of calls, emails, and visiting the store they finally gave us the amount
-a bit after we received the amount i realized the flooring they sold us scratches like crazy. i can't even pull in and out of my sewing chair (which has felt protectors on the feet) without the floor scratching
-this whole thing was a disaster
