This used to be my favorite Home Depot, until tonight. I order stuff online at least twice a week and pick it up at the service desk without it ever being a problem and have been doing this for two years since we moved to Anthem. The normal routine is I go in they recognize me since I’m in there so much and my stuff is waiting for me I sign the order slip and I’m on my way. Tonight I picked up nine light fixture bulbs brought them to the house and discovered they were not the correct size. I went back out to return them for the correct size which is where the problems started. I brought them back to where I picked them up told them I needed to exchange them for the correct size and they told me that I needed to have them returned to the Home Depot card I used. I explained that I just needed an exchange and the Home Depot card that was used came from California and I was the authorized person picking them up and just needed the correct bulbs. We have several rentals in the area and my business partner lives in California and uses her card to make the purchases and I pick them up to use on the rentals so returning them to the card would do me know good as I needed the bulbs now. Again it was an exchange didn’t want a credit, didn’t want cash just the correct bulbs. This has happened in the past we would order the wrong item and I would go in and they would let me exchange it for the correct one. The girl helping me was nice enough and I then asked if I could talk to the manager. The assistant manager came over by the name of Taylor I explained to him the problem and what was going on and he told me there was nothing he could do. Are you kidding me? I understand what your computer says, it needs to go back on the card, but when a very good customer comes in that most people know by name be accommodating. I’m thinking that’s the first thing they probably teach you in training. There are rules then there are rules. I wasn’t asking for cash back or anything of the like just the correct item I ordered which has never been a problem in the past. Sometimes you do things for people that are great customers and ask anyone that has dealt with me there and there are a lot of them and they would say I was one of them. I asked Taylor what would happen if I brought them back to another Home Depot and told them I bought these but didn’t have a receipt and he refused to answer the question because he knows the answer would be they’d take your license information and give you a store credit. His answer he finally gave me was that it was my moral decision if I wanted to do that or not. Couple things, I don’t need my morals judged by Taylor the assistant manager at Home Depot and it would have taken two seconds to do your job and see what you could have done to help a customer. Instead of standing there like you own the place telling me you can’t help try helping the person that probably paid your salary last week. As I said normally this place is five stars I love and the stafff that works there are outstanding. Tonight not so much.
