I will not do business again with Alex Vongsouthi or his companies, Platinum Flooring and Collections Hardwood Flooring. I would not recommend Alex Vongsouthi or his company to any one else. They over-promise and under-deliver. In my case it caused me to be 2 months late delivering a completed house.
I originally went to Platinum Flooring to buy Monarch product. Alex, owner of Platinum, said I could get a better deal buying his own brand of flooring, called Collections Hardwood Flooring. It was a nice looking product but I was concerned about my delivery schedule and knew Monarch flooring company had the wood I wanted in stock. Alex assured me that he could deliver his flooring within the 3-week period needed... by May 13, 2017 at the latest...so I made the mistake of purchasing his product instead of the Monarch line. I also made the mistake of paying in advance. When 3 weeks passed and no word from Alex about delivery, I started calling and emailing. Each time we communicated, Alex had one excuse after another, and each time he told me “the product would be arriving in about a week”. The flooring finally arrived in early June, almost 8 weeks past the original promise date.
When the wood delivery came, there were two big problems that delayed me further. The amount delivered was short by about 15%. When Alex and Neil Vongsouthi came to confirm this error, they also noted that another 10-15% of the wood delivered was the wrong grade, with deep knots in the wood instead of the clear grade I ordered. I did not have enough good wood to finish the flooring at that time and had to order more. On June 20th, 2017 Alex promised to expedite an order for another 250 sq ft of his product, so I could finish the job.
The replacement wood, like the original flooring, and delivery promises kept getting delayed.
The additional wood finally arrived another month behind schedule AND it was the wrong color and wrong finish. Because I had absolutely no slack left in my schedule, with a move-in scheduled, I had to install the replacement flooring after the move-in occurred and I will have to refinish the room and a half of mismatched flooring onsite. I also had to pay extra to the installers for overtime work because, after all the broken delivery promises, the installers stopped re-scheduling my installation.
Alex Vongsouthi is not an honorable person and his companies, Platinum Flooring and Collections Hardwood, are built on smoke and mirrors. The main problems with dealing with Platinum Floors and Alex are these... Alex will tell you what you want to hear, and will over-promise to get your business. His company is so small that they make their wood to order, so if a screw-up occurs and you need more wood - expect big delays to occur.
I strongly recommend against doing business with Alex Vonggsouthi at Platinum Flooring.
Do not buy Collections Hardwood Flooring. I had to file a small claims action against Alex and Platinum Flooring to be made whole for their screwups.
