Bought a logsplitter recently at Auburn store. Was helped by Hans who answered all my questions about the different types. Decided on the Champion 34 ton. Maya and Taylor rang me out at the register and were the friendliest Home Depot employees I ever met. Lena and Daniel brought the splitter out to my truck and took the time to hook it up. I appreciate all their help. Guess evening is the best time to shop there.

So I've been here a few times now... its pointless to ask for help... If you don't get directed to the wrong isle its a miracle. But, I wouldn't rate 1 star for that... My wife and I went to look for cabinets on a Sunday.... I would figure this would be one of their busiest days being a weekend, so we were prepared we might have to wait. But when we arrived there was no one in the cabinet department. We asked is someone was around to help us. One of the flooring people finally grabbed the schedule for the cabinet department. NO ONE was scheduled ALL DAY. One of the appliance guys said... well here is our price sheet for uppers and lowers and lowers would probably be about half that installed... rough ball park they were more expensive than other cabinet places so we left. This is NOT the first bad experience I've had here... we went a couple years ago and couldn't get help with flooring either. It's amazing this place can stay in business with this level of competence.

Employees are friendly, but not incredibly knowledgeable about their respective departments... which is fine, so long as they find another employee who is (but most do not offer this) and you have to ask. There are some great, very knowledgeable gentlemen in electrical and plumbing. (Thank you guys!) The other departments, not so much. Don't bother calling this store, unless you have a lot of time on your hands - you will either get bounced around to a myriad of wrong departments or be hung up on. Do not expect the plants you buy from here to last; they never do. I am a farmer, and an ex-HD employee (who was trained in every department) - their plants are heavily overfed with nutrients, and they place plants that should be in the shade, in the sun... etc. etc. (All other gardening supplies are ok). ;) Their "Pro Desk" needs help and is incredibly lacking. If you have a will-call order, make sure all your items are "there" - they 1) do not count the items in your order and they 2) do not ID the people picking up the order! Every time I've done a will-call order, I've had huge issues that take me a great deal of time to fix. If you have an issue - talk directly to the store manager. Bring your dog! They allow all dogs - not just service or therapy animals. It's a perk every time you go.

Limited staffing that just don't seem to know the store or the systems. Good product availability though. I recommend just using the app for locating items, but you're on your own for the abysmal self checkout set up.

I love home Depot, but the just remodeled and took out almost all the checkers. I like self checkout for the quick stop, few items.. but when I have a lot of stuff I appreciate the help. I will go there less which is sad because the rest of the store is fantastic. I hope the switch back to more assisted checkouts.
