We were told that the "traffic" finish applied to our floors is the same finish that is used in Gymnasiums and restaurants, and that it would last many years. In 3 years time it was completely worn off to bare wood. We had the owner come out to look at it, and he said there isn't anything he could do because we have 2 dogs. He knew we had 2 dogs at the time he applied it. I have seen the Traffic finish on other wood kitchen floors recenlty, friends who had the Traffic finish applied to their kitchen floors and one, at 13 years still looks great. the other at 4 years, still looks new.both couple are also older with 2 dogs. we are only 2 older people and 2 med size dogs who don't run or play in the kitchen. we are absolutely sick about this as we weren't planning on redoing our floors for many years and now have to do it as soon as possible as they are greying from bare wood exposure. We paid alot of money for this special finish that isn't worth anything, as it comes off quickly from normal wear.

This is the work that was completed: Sand, fill, stain and finish all existing hardwood floors. Completely replace existing railing system and replace with oak posts, railings, bottom plate and rosettes. Install wrought iron balusters and shoes. Sand and stain fireplace trim and shelves to match floor. Replace veneer mantel with solid oak mantel to match floor and other woodwork. Replace trim on stairway. Outstanding workmanship. We prefer to hire local and Hardwood Cafe did not disappoint us. Tom delivered as he said he would. He was able to help us choose style and color that not only updated but also beautified our home. The product he uses is excellent and high grade. No corners were cut. We were apprehensive about the dust created from sanding floors. The equipment he uses keeps that dust down to a minimum. Plastic was used to protect most everything so clean up was not extensive. Very knowledgeable in his trade and can give great suggestions on how to protect your investment. He is easy to work with and pays attention to all detail. I highly recommend Hardwood Cafe. Great service, product and price.
