Dave Varley totally/completely ruined our wood floors to the point we had to call in a flooring company to try and sand out his mistakes and refinish the floors. I find no sense in rewriting what so many of his customers have stated, of which I am in agreement with, but I do ask that you read them and give you fair warning to immediately move on and find a reputable flooring company. Again I warn you that you are tossing your money into the wind with this guy!

Not happy with final product and would not recommend doing business with Dave Varley. I used Buff & Coat to refinish my floors on September 12. The floor shows spots of rough patches and and the seal coat looks worse than when started in one of the rooms. I contacted David and he told me he would come by to look at it. He takes days to reply to messages and has was a no show (no call or anything) to the time that had been scheduled (excuses of being sick, family emergency, on vacation). It has now been has now been almost 2 weeks and he still hasn't come back out to look at the floor. But of course has promptly cashed my checks.

Horrible service and final product! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DAVID VARLEY!!! I used Buff & Coat to refinish my floors on March 26, 2014. The result is worse than when it started. The final coat is thin and easily peeling up at the slightest touch. I immediately contacted David and he told me to wait and he would be back to fix it. After 1 week of excuse after excuse, he stopped replying. He has now been MIA for 2 weeks. I spoke to other Buff & Coat franchises and they all said that they are getting multiple calls about bad workmanship and no follow up to fix the issue when David does the work.

AVOID DAVE VARLEY AT ALL COSTS!! If I could rate my experience a "0" I would. I went to high school with David Varley and make the HUGE mistake of not checking online reviews before I hired him. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!! Dave quoted me a price of $1,200 (which was similar to another quote I had gotten. He then offered me a cash discount of $200 for a final price of $1,000. Red flag #1 was when I got an email from my bank my check (made to him personally) had been cashed a couple of hours after I agreed to have him to the work. After the work was complete I had streaks in the finish everywhere and you could see where he overlapped the finish in all corners and walls when he applied it. When I texted him (you can't call him- he doesn't answer his phone nor can you leave him a message, his voicemail is full. Red flag #2) he said to give it time as the finish needs sun for the streaks to go away. A week later I texted him and said the streaks were still there. He said he'd be at my house 8 am Monday morning to look at it. Monday morning came and went with no show, no call or text from Dave (Red Flag #3). I had sent him a couple of texts that morning with no response and decided to check his online reviews. I found horrible reviews from other customers that had the same exact experience on Google, Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. He finally texted back mid day to give me an excuse of being on a red eye flight with a dead phone. After my next couple of texts went unanswered I texted him again and told him I was going to file a police report for theft of service. The next morning he told me he'd come back and recoat my floors on Thursday. So, I moved all my furniture again and Thursday morning he showed up. I had to run a quick errand and when I returned home 10 minutes later, he was already re-coating the floors. HE DIDN'T DEAL WITH ANY OF THE ISSUES, SIMPLY PUT ANOTHER COAT OF FINISH ON THAT MADE THE PROBLEMS WORSE! The next day I had another company look at his work and they confirmed what I feared. Without any sanding or buffing to take out the streaks and "high spots" the second coat made the problem worse. I also found out my floors should take 5 - 6 hours to properly prepare (buff) and coat. Dave spent about 2 hours on them the first time and 1.5 hours the second time. The new coat had all sorts of misc items (including food, hair and dirt) sealed into them since he went so fast! I had to hire the other company to the tune of $1,000 (that's now $2,000 invested in a $1,000 job) to repair everything Dave had done. I texted Dave to tell him all this and requested a $500 refund. And as you can imagine Dave was nowhere to be found. He did not reply to my text or offer. Under no circumstances hire Dave Varley from Buff and Coat to work on your floors!
