Elkes Carpet One is a great family owned company, and the family values are shown still present today. They installed carpet in my entire house about (200 SY) and did a fantastic job. Josh (the sales manager) was tentative and followed up with a home inspection after the job was complete. I can't say enough about the installer, I have never seen anyone work so hard, yet catch every detail. Yes i give them 5 stars, and yet I will use them in the future!

I went to Carpet One Elkes because I'd had a slightly disappointing experience with a big retailer several years ago, and their reviews were positive. I chose my carpet and ordered it, requesting installation a week after I was told it could be installed, so there was plenty of time allowed (June, 2016). I was asked if I wanted the remnants and I said I did. At 4:30pm the day before installation, I received a call saying the carpet was in Charlotte (~90 mins away) and I was asked when they could install it next if the next day wasn't possible. We'd had the room painted that day and most furniture squeezed into the kitchen, and didn't want to have it in disarray for an extra day or more. I asked why there wasn't an earlier check to make sure the product would be onsite, and received no answer just apologies. I asked if there was any way someone could go get it from Charlotte that night or early in the morning to stay on track, but if not, the very next day was the absolute latest as we were going out of town 2 days after that. Half an hour later I got a call that an installer would be there first thing in the morning to remove the old and lay the pad, then around noon the carpet should arrive to be installed. The old was removed and pad laid as stated (the installer arrived in a plain van with no company signage and no nametag, and used the back of my toilet tank, without asking, as a weight while sealing the seam..... hmmm, doesn't he carry the tools he needs? I would have said ok if he'd asked, but that seems a bit unprofessional), but the carpet actually arrived at the store very late that next day, so it wasn't installed until the following morning. The installers finished around 10:30am and left after asking my husband if all looked ok (as opposed to asking for me, the purchaser, though I'd told them I was working upstairs). All looked fine, so off they went. The next day we went out of town for 4th of July weekend and I realized I hadn't seen the remnant but couldn't call them until Tuesday after the holiday, at which point there was no sign of the remnant. After talking to several people with no explanation or luck, and based on the cost of the carpet and the leftover sized piece, it was ~$240 worth of carpet. I said I wanted either the remnant or a reimbursement (oh, and the original person who took my order no longer worked there, I discovered). The sales person said he'd have to check with a supervisor to get it authorized. I said that was fine, to please call me back. That was early July, then we went on vacation for 2 wks. I have not heard a thing from the company in 3 wks now. I've spent enough time dickering with them so my take away is - get EVERYTHING in writing if it matters. I've given 3 stars (instead of fewer) because the carpet is beautiful. Expensive, but beautiful.

This company was hired by my builder AR Rutenberg Monterey Bay Raleigh to install my carpet, tile and hardwood floors. I have owned several home in various states, including Charlotte NC so I have experienced what different temps can do to floors and frankly, I know what . I am not sure who was at fault--the builder trying to build a nice home on a trailer park budget or the company hired to install the floors--who didn't have a clue what they were doing. The first thing one sees when walking in the front door of the home--hardwood floors---and frankly-they were an embarrassment. People walked in and immediately said-"what is wrong with your floors"? They were cupped-terribly. But when looking closer it was more than cupping --there were multiple nail holes throughout the house that looked like the installer went around with a nail gun popping in nails. some sections had multiple holes very closely spaced. One section of the floor had separated from the sub-floor and was uneven. It had to be replaced. The place where the hardwood floor met the door transitioning from one room to the other looked as though the installer chewed the ends of the board off, still waiting to have that repaired---very poorly done. I actually had to move out of the house, all of the furniture moved into my garage--so the floors could be refinished and places could be repaired. It is still not great but way better. I spoke to one of the sons of the business who came to my home, nice enough guy, and I told him, it was the worst job I have ever seen in all of my homes, and I was told they would fix the issues, even if they had to replace the floor--?? not sure if they were the ones to refinish the floors--I let the builder work that out. Regarding the tile job--the tile job in my bathroom shower isn't great...a lot of excess grout in places that could have been tiled, and the shower floor drains to the corners--not at all professionally done. The builder had someone in the shower cleaning grout for a couple hours only to replace with caulk--which looks like garbage Unless this company changed installers--I would hesitate having them do any work.
