CarpetOne (Floors Inc.) sloppy work ethic is reflected in the 5 trips over 2 different jobs that were conducted in my home. With the below issues brought to the attention of the South Lake floor manager, Randy made no attempt to resolve the issues or ensure I was a satisfied customer. I had amateur installers promise a professional job at almost $6K for 150 square feet.
Communication Skills - Non-Existent
For the first job, an inspector from Floors Inc. examined the shower floors in my home and quickly determined the shower floors were level, causing the water to not drain properly. He promised the work would be scheduled in two weeks. After one month, I began the game of phone tag to get the work scheduled. Finally, it was.
For the second job, I requested the Carpet One install gym flooring in my home. I began discussions with the sales representative on 10 May 2017, and made no progress for at least the first month - and it ended up taking two months to order to product. I was constantly promised follow-up phone calls or text messages, but they never came. Finally, I began calling more than once a week to get a status update on the product. Understanding that the sales representative needed to find the right supplier and ask many questions - he failed to prepare himself to ask the right questions and ended up making multiple calls to the same suppliers because he could not understand what product I wanted. Even once the product was delivered to the Carpet One, the sales rep. who promised a follow-up call didn't call me to schedule to job, or to check on the status of the job. When I called him to express my disappointment, he acted as if he was surprised to hear from me.
For both jobs, they were scheduled for N days, but took N+1 days. Not only does Carpet One fail to communicate regularly with their customers, but they clearly do not communicate with their own employees.
Quality of Work - Sloppy
For the first job, it was completed. However, the three day job (supposed to be two) had a new set of contractors coming into my home and marking up the wall with their filthy hands and carelessness. I watched them turn the corner and smack a hallway corner with their level and not even apologize.
For the second job, Carpet One admitted to 'rarely installing gym floors' and as a consequence, they 'aren't as good as they should be.' (Randy, floor manager at the South Lake store). If you can't professionally install gym flooring, don't sell it. See attached picture as an example of the work completed by their professionals. Similar to the first job, the work crew had no concern for the condition of my home, refused to wear shoe covers, and marked up walls - even outside of the room they worked in. Additionally, they worked around a treadmill in the room..but they didn't have the decency to cover the treadmill and it became covered in dust, which they didn't clean. Lastly, they constantly left the door open during the job - another example of their carelessness.
For both jobs, neither crew spoke english, making it impossible to correct the undesired behaviors (i.e. shoe covers) or save the old carpet - they cut mine into many pieces and wanted to haul it off without asking me.
8/13/2017 Update: 1 week after posting this review, still no response from CarpetOne - clearly taking care of customers is not a priority.
