Home Depot needs to get a different delivery service. Mostly my issue is with RAS but Home Depot was not much help with me dealing with them or offering any apologies. RAS was terrible...I gave them 1star. I'm giving HD 2 stars because at least the prices were good. Where should I start?
- we purchased (4) appliances on Black Friday & scheduled delivery for 1/20/18 - 7 WEEKS LATER!
- we were told by Home Depot salesperson that all (4) were IN-STOCK and they basically "slap your name on the side of them".
- we asked for the 1st delivery on 1/20/18 since we were scheduling so far in advance - "no problem" we were told.
- got the call from RAS on 1/19/18 that our delivery window was 11:30 - 3:30....that seems pretty late for the 1st delivery (sarcasm).
- tore out all the appliances before 11am.
- got the "1/2 hour out" around 3:00 saying we are 20 minutes away....ummm, that's an odd "1/2 hour away" call
- during that call driver informs us "the microwave is not coming, it's back-ordered". What? It was in-stock 7 weeks ago....& you're telling me now when you're 20 minutes away....after I tore out my existing microwave....really?
- delivery guys show up....track snow, mud, etc into the house...no booties or "do you mind".
- they tell me that the new refrigerator won't fit....it did.
- they now tell my wife that the GE truck did not come this week with our microwave....we ordered all Whirlpool appliances.
- we were supposed to get delivery and setup of the fridge & oven, we were installing dishwasher & microwave.....they scuffed our outside molding and chipped the wall getting the fridge in....and just left both the fridge & oven in the dining room.
- told us he cannot add pex line to existing copper so cannot install the fridge, and that they do not install stoves. we hooked up the water line on the fridge, the cord on the oven & the anti-tip device for the oven. they just left a big mess on our floor.
- they were to move the old oven and fridge to the basement (we paid for this)....they told me only 1 was on his work order...we showed him our paperwork but he said that's not what his said. "I'll move it but you may get charged for it". ummmm, ok.
- then they told us that the microwave might have been at the warehouse but did not get on the truck....they'll do a "dock search" for it.
- on their way out (I'd already decided that no tip would be given), they told us that we'd be getting a phone survey..."please give us all 5's, thanks".....we gave them a 2 on the automated survey phone call....no response from anyone at RAS - I guess they don't care.
- followed up about the microwave with both RAS & Home Depot....no return calls.
- eventually I had to stop by at HD to inquire....I'm told by this salesperson that they always have problems with RAS but management does not do anything....and nothing she can do about it....no one cares she said.
- salesperson also laughed at me for calling my original salesperson when I had problems....I said he told me I could call if we "had ANY problems" so I did.....it did not help, he never called me back becuase she said "he didn't even know who you were". That's odd....he didn't remember me from 7 weeks ago when he probably spoke with a hundred people that day alone....so that's a good reason NOT to call me back - he doesn't remember our 1/2 hour conversation 7 weeks ago as he's trying to sell me 4 appliances....sheesh.
- got the microwave finally....2nd delivery guy was nice and did offer an apology sort of. I had a helper on 1/20/18 for the microwave install now I have to do it myself.
- Not a peep from RAS about how bad all this was.
- Home Depot doesn't seem to care either....I may be done with big box retailers.
There....that was the quickie version. try to avoid RAS if at all possible.
