We bought our house in February 2017. We originally had the newly installed laminate floor listed as a contingency because it was buckling/popping up in some spots. We were told it was an easy fix so we took it off so we could list a few other issues.
When our daughter started to walk in August is when we noticed how bad the floor got because she kept catching her feet and falling over the spots that popped up. We had no warranty papers or anything about the floor, and our home warranty didn’t cover the floor. I called a few places and had them come take a look. We were advised to try and find out who installed the floor because the entire laminate would have to be replaced and they didn’t want to have to charge us.
Our oven broke so I reached out to the previous owner to see if he had the receipt for the oven so we could get it fixed. When he dropped the receipt off, he asked if there were any other issues so my husband told him about the floor. That is when we were told that On The Spot Flooring installed the floor. He said to give them a call. So the next day I did. They sent David out to take a look and as soon as he walked inside he knew what the problem was. He said the guy who installed the floor no longer works with them and it was one of the worst installations he’s ever seen. He said he would check for moisture but he knew that wasn’t the issue. He said he would give us a call back before the end of the week. I didn’t hear back so I called them either the Friday afternoon or the next Monday. They eventually sent out Alvin to come fix the issue. Alvin also said it was the worst floor installation he’s ever seen. He said it would be an all day fix and he would have to be scheduled to fix it another day.
I never heard back so I kept calling. I was given every excuse under the sun from Joan (I think that’s her name). One of the excuses was they were waiting on the supplies to be delivered. Then after not hearing anything for 2 weeks and day by day our floor was getting worse, I called back trying to figure out what the hold up was. Joan (again I’m not sure if that was her name) never gave me the chance to talk and she kept talking over me. She said Linda was the woman I need to speak with and she wouldn’t be in until the next week. Several hours later, Linda called me. Same issue with Linda, she wouldn’t let me talk and explain the issue. I finally had to tell her to stop talking over me and to let me explain.
All she was worried about was why they weren’t notified earlier. However, she kept talking when I was trying to tell her we didn’t move in the house right away and we thought it would be an easy fix so we had contacted other flooring companies. Not knowing we would have to have the entire floor replaced. She kept saying the warranty is through the previous owner even though he never lived in the house, he was only remodeling it to sell it. I told her that David and Alvin said it was one of the worst installations they’ve ever seen and she raised her voice (louder than what she was already talking) and said “THEY DID NOT SAY THAT!” actually ma’am yes they did. They both told my husband and I that.
So why was I told that the reason they weren’t calling me back was because they were waiting on the supplies to be delivered? Hmmm...
Linda was offering no help for the issue one of her previous workers caused. The floor was put in too tight, there is absolutely no space whatsoever to expand. So now we are left with a floor that has 3 major spots that are buckling and separating. The spot that we keep catching our feet on is about 3 inches high that our entire foot goes under the laminate. I could have always gone with a lawsuit considering my daughter has fell numerous times leaving her with bruises.
We wanted the rest of the house to have matching laminate but because of their rudeness and awful installation we will go elsewhere.
If giving them 0 stars were an option, they would be getting 0 stars from us.
If anyone would like photos of our floor, please reply and I will gladly send them.
